Journal ArticleDOI
Biotemplated Synthesis of Gold Nanoparticle–Bacteria Cellulose Nanofiber Nanocomposites and Their Application in Biosensing
TL;DR: The obtained Au–BC nanocomposites are used as excellent support for horseradish peroxidase (HRP) immobilization, which allows the detection of H2O2 with a detection limit lower than 1 µM.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure-property relationships of a biological mesocrystal in the adult sea urchin spine
Jong Seto,Yurong Ma,Sean A. Davis,Fiona C. Meldrum,Aurélien Gourrier,Yi-Yeoun Kim,Uwe Schilde,Michael Sztucki,Manfred Burghammer,Sergey Maltsev,Christian Jäger,Helmut Cölfen +11 more
TL;DR: A comprehensive analysis of an adult sea urchin spine is presented, and in revealing a complex, hierarchical structure, it is shown how Nature fabricates a material which diffracts as a single crystal of calcite and yet fractures as a glassy material.
Journal ArticleDOI
Self-supported Li4Ti5O12 nanosheet arrays for lithium ion batteries with excellent rate capability and ultralong cycle life
TL;DR: In this paper, the formation of the H-LTO nanosheet arrays was through kinetics-controlled growth during the hydrothermal metal corrosion process, and the self-supported LTO arrays standing on conductive Ti foil exhibited an excellent rate capability (a reversible capacity of 163mA h g−1 and 78 mA hg−1 at 20 C and 200 C, respectively) and an outstanding cycling performance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shape‐ and Size‐Controlled Synthesis of Uniform Anatase TiO2 Nanocuboids Enclosed by Active {100} and {001} Facets
TL;DR: In this paper, anatase TiO2 nanocuboids enclosed by active {100} and {001} facets over a wide size range (60-830 nm in length) with controllable aspect ratios were solvothermally synthesized through hydrolysis of titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) using acetic acid (HAc) as the solvent and the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([bmim][BF4]) as the capping agent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Large-pore mesoporous silica spheres: synthesis and application in HPLC
TL;DR: In this paper, large pore mesoporous silica microspheres with tailored pore sizes were obtained via a two-step synthesis process by using a triblock copolymer EO20PO70EO20 as template in combination with a cosurfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and a cosolvent ethanol.
