Journal ArticleDOI
Drug-coated balloons for small coronary artery disease (BASKET-SMALL 2): an open-label randomised non-inferiority trial.
Raban Jeger,Ahmed Farah,Marc-Alexander Ohlow,Norman Mangner,Norman Mangner,Sven Möbius-Winkler,Gregor Leibundgut,Daniel Weilenmann,Jochen Wöhrle,Stefan Richter,Matthias Schreiber,Felix Mahfoud,Axel Linke,Axel Linke,Frank-Peter Stephan,Christian Mueller,Peter Rickenbacher,Michael Coslovsky,Nicole Gilgen,Stefan Osswald,Christoph Kaiser,Bruno Scheller,Peter Buser,Michael Kühne,Michael J. Zellweger,Christian Sticherling,Bastian Wein,Raphael Twerenbold,Gregor Fahrni,Björn Plicht,Berthold Struck,Ismet Önal,Bodo Cremers,Yvonne P. Clever,Sebastian Ewen,Stephan Schirmer,Michael Böhm,Andreas Wagner,Bernward Lauer,Georg Stachel,Robert Höllriegel,Ephraim B. Winzer,Hans Rickli,Peter Ammann,Philipp Haager,Lukas Trachsel,Lucas Joerg,Dominique Nüssli,Hans Roelli,Micha T. TL;DR: In small native coronary artery disease, DCB was non-inferior to DES regarding MACE up to 12 months, with similar event rates for both treatment groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term follow-up after treatment of coronary in-stent restenosis with a paclitaxel-coated balloon catheter.
Bruno Scheller,Yvonne P. Clever,Bettina Kelsch,Christoph Hehrlein,Wolfgang Bocksch,Wolfgang Rutsch,Dariush Haghi,Ulrich Dietz,Ulrich Speck,Michael Böhm,Bodo Cremers +10 more
TL;DR: Treatment of coronary ISR with paclitaxel-coated balloon catheters is safe and persistently reduces repeat revascularization during long-term follow-up.
Journal ArticleDOI
The PPAR-γ agonist pioglitazone increases neoangiogenesis and prevents apoptosis of endothelial progenitor cells
TL;DR: TZD upregulates both number and functional capacity of endothelial progenitor cells in mice as well as in human EPC in a PI3K-dependent but NO-independent manner and reduces in vivo apoptosis of EPC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Local paclitaxel induces late lumen enlargement in coronary arteries after balloon angioplasty.
Franz X. Kleber,Antonia Schulz,Matthias Waliszewski,Telse Hauschild,Michael Böhm,Ulrich Dietz,Bodo Cremers,Bruno Scheller,Yvonne P. Clever +8 more
TL;DR: Local application of paclitaxel by DCB angioplasty to native coronary arteries after pre-dilatation without major dissection and recoil leads to late lumen increase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Do Pharmacokinetics Explain Persistent Restenosis Inhibition by a Single Dose of Paclitaxel
Ulrich Speck,Bodo Cremers,Bettina Kelsch,Melanie Biedermann,Yvonne P. Clever,Silvio Schaffner,Dirk Mahnkopf,Uli Hanisch,Michael Böhm,Bruno Scheller +9 more
TL;DR: After a single local administration with coated balloons, paclitaxel stays in the vessel wall of pigs long enough to explain persistent inhibition of neointimal proliferation and does not exclude other reasons for sustained efficacy such as early blocking of processes initiating excessive and prolonged neointedimal proliferation.
