Journal ArticleDOI

Physicochemical and sorption characteristics of Malaysian Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn. as a natural oil sorbent.

TL;DR: It is shown that Malaysian kapok has shown great potential as an effective natural oil sorbent, owing to high sorption and retention capacity, structural stability and high reusability.
Journal ArticleDOI

A review on geopolymers as emerging materials for the adsorption of heavy metals and dyes

TL;DR: Future research should focus on the enhancement of geopolymer performance, testing on pollutants other than heavy metals and dyes, and verification on real wastewater in continuous operation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preparation of Cellulose Nanocrystals Using an Ionic Liquid

TL;DR: In this paper, cellulose nanocrystals were prepared by treating microcrystalline cellulose with 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulphate ionic liquid.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biodiesel production from waste cooking oil by acidic ionic liquid as a catalyst

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-step process i.e. esterification and transesterification was performed, where the ionic liquid butyl-methyl imidazolium hydrogensulfate (BMIMHSO 4 ) was found to be effective due to its longer side chain.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photodegradation of Orange II under visible light using Cu–Ni/TiO2: Effect of calcination temperature

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of calcination temperatures on the Orange II removal was investigated and the best performing photocatalyst has 9:1 Cu:Ni mass composition and calcined at 180°C giving 100% removal with 16.1% organic carbon analysis.
