Uptake of zinc by rye, bread wheat and durum wheat cultivars differing in zinc efficiency

TL;DR: The results indicate that high Zn efficiency of rye can be attributed to its greater Zn uptake capacity from soils, while all bread and durum wheat cultivars were similar in their capacity to translocate 65Zn from roots to shoots.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aluminum-tolerant bacteria improve the plant growth and phosphorus content in ryegrass grown in a volcanic soil amended with cattle dung manure

TL;DR: The results suggest that a combination of native Al-tolerant bacteria and cattle dung manure is effective in decreasing Al toxicity and promoting plant growth in Andisols of southern Chile.
Book ChapterDOI

Arsenic and Heavy Metal (Cadmium, Lead, Mercury and Nickel) Contamination in Plant-Based Foods

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reviewed the reported contamination levels of arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg) and nickel (Ni) in cereals, vegetables, fruits, cereals and pulses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Na(+)/H(+) antiporter activity of the SOS1 gene: lifetime imaging analysis and electrophysiological studies on Arabidopsis seedlings.

TL;DR: The SOS1 transporter is involved in H(+) influx into the meristem zone of Arabidopsis roots, or it may function as a Na(+)/H(+) antiporter.
