Journal ArticleDOI
Viral and host factors related to the clinical outcome of COVID-19.
Xiaonan Zhang,Yun Tan,Yun Ling,Gang Lu,Feng Liu,Zhigang Yi,Xiaofang Jia,Min Wu,Bisheng Shi,Shuibao Xu,Jun Chen,Wei Wang,Bing Chen,Lu Jiang,Shuting Yu,Jing Lu,Jinzeng Wang,Mingzhu Xu,Zhenghong Yuan,Qin Zhang,Xinxin Zhang,Guoping Zhao,Shengyue Wang,Sai-Juan Chen,Hongzhou Lu +24 more
TL;DR: Clinical data from 326 cases suggest that T cell depletion and cytokine bursts are associated with a worse prognosis, and genomic sequences from 112 patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 virus showed two clades with similar virulence and clinical outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term functional maintenance of primary human hepatocytes in vitro
Chengang Xiang,Yuanyuan Du,Gaofan Meng,Liew Soon Yi,Shicheng Sun,Nan Song,Xiaonan Zhang,Yiwei Xiao,Jie Wang,Zhigang Yi,Yifang Liu,Bingqing Xie,Min Wu,Jun Shu,Da Sun,Jun Jia,Zhen Liang,Dong Sun,Yanxiang Huang,Yan Shi,Jun Xu,Fengmin Lu,Cheng Li,Kuanhui Xiang,Zhenghong Yuan,Shichun Lu,Hongkui Deng +26 more
TL;DR: 5C-cultured PHHs showed global gene expression profiles and hepatocyte-specific functions resembling those of freshly isolated counterparts, and efficiently recapitulated the entire course of hepatitis B virus infection over 4 weeks with the production of infectious viral particles and formation of HBV covalently closed circular DNA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification and characterization of the host protein DNAJC14 as a broadly active flavivirus replication modulator.
Zhigang Yi,Lindsey Sperzel,Cindy Nürnberger,Peter J. Bredenbeek,Peter J. Bredenbeek,Kirk J. Lubick,Sonja M. Best,Cristina Stoyanov,Lok Man J. Law,Zhenghong Yuan,Charles M. Rice,Margaret R. MacDonald +11 more
TL;DR: The findings, together with previously published work, suggest that the members of the Flaviviridae family have evolved in unique and important ways to interact with this host Hsp40 chaperone molecule.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatitis C Virus Co-Opts Ras-GTPase-Activating Protein-Binding Protein 1 for Its Genome Replication
Zhigang Yi,Tingting Pan,Xianfang Wu,Wuhui Song,Shanshan Wang,Yan Xu,Charles M. Rice,Margaret R. MacDonald,Zhenghong Yuan +8 more
TL;DR: G3BP1 is associated with HCV RCs and may be co-opted as a functional RC component for viral replication, which may facilitate understanding of the molecular mechanisms of HCV genome replication.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatitis C virus non‐structural protein NS5A interacts with FKBP38 and inhibits apoptosis in Huh7 hepatoma cells
Jiadong Wang,Wenyan Tong,Xiaonan Zhang,Li Chen,Zhigang Yi,Tingting Pan,Yunwen Hu,Li Xiang,Zhenghong Yuan +8 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that HCV NS5A inhibits apoptosis through interaction with FKBP38, a 38 kDa immunosuppressant FK506‐binding protein, and such inhibition of apoptosis could specifically be abrogated by depletion of FK BP38 using RNA interference.
