Soil Contamination in China: Current Status and Mitigation Strategies
TL;DR: Comparisons with other regions of the world show that the current status of soil contamination, based on the total contaminant concentrations, is not worse in China, however, the concentrations of some heavy metals in Chinese soils appear to be increasing at much greater rates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Overexpression of a pH-sensitive nitrate transporter in rice increases crop yields
Xiaorong Fan,Zhong Tang,Yawen Tan,Yong Zhang,Bingbing Luo,Meng Yang,Xingming Lian,Qirong Shen,Anthony J. Miller,Guohua Xu +9 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that pH sensing by the rice nitrate transporter OsNRT2.3b is important for plant adaption to varied N supply forms and can provide a target for improving NUE.
Journal ArticleDOI
Knockdown of a Rice Stelar Nitrate Transporter Alters Long-Distance Translocation But Not Root Influx
TL;DR: A vascular specific nitrate transporter belonging to the high-affinity Nitrate Transporter2 (NRT2) family is characterized and played a key role in long-distance nitrate transport from root to shoot at low nitrate supply level in rice.
Journal ArticleDOI
OsHAC1;1 and OsHAC1;2 Function as Arsenate Reductases and Regulate Arsenic Accumulation
Shulin Shi,Tao Wang,Zi-Ru Chen,Zhong Tang,Zhongchang Wu,David E. Salt,Dai-Yin Chao,Fang-Jie Zhao +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that OsHAC1;1 and OsHac1;2 are arsenate reductases that play an important role in restricting As accumulation in rice shoots and grain.
Journal ArticleDOI
A loss-of-function allele of OsHMA3 associated with high cadmium accumulation in shoots and grain of Japonica rice cultivars.
Jiali Yan,Peitong Wang,Peng Wang,Peng Wang,Meng Yang,Xingming Lian,Zhong Tang,Chao-Feng Huang,David E. Salt,Fang-Jie Zhao,Fang-Jie Zhao +10 more
TL;DR: This study has identified a new loss-of-function allele of OsHMA3 in Japonica rice cultivars leading to high Cd accumulation in shoots and grain.
