Journal ArticleDOI
A small secreted protein in Zymoseptoria tritici is responsible for avirulence on wheat cultivars carrying the Stb6 resistance gene.
Ziming Zhong,Thierry C. Marcel,Fanny E. Hartmann,Xin Ma,Clémence Plissonneau,Clémence Plissonneau,Marcello Zala,Aurélie Ducasse,Johann Confais,Jérome Compain,Nicolas Lapalu,Joelle Amselem,Bruce A. McDonald,Daniel Croll,Javier Palma-Guerrero +14 more
TL;DR: AvrStb6 is the first avirulence gene to be functionally validated in Z. tritici, contributing to the understanding ofAvirulence in apoplastic pathogens and the mechanisms underlying GFG interactions between Z.Tritici and wheat.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Improved Method for Measuring Quantitative Resistance to the Wheat Pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici Using High-Throughput Automated Image Analysis.
Ethan L. Stewart,Christina H. Hagerty,Alexey Mikaberidze,Christopher C. Mundt,Ziming Zhong,Bruce A. McDonald +5 more
TL;DR: Results show that automated image analysis provides a promising tool for assessing quantitative resistance to Zymoseptoria tritici under field conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tolerance to oxidative stress is associated with both oxidative stress response and inherent growth in a fungal wheat pathogen
TL;DR: In this article, the authors employed a forward genetic approach to investigate the genetic architecture of oxidative stress tolerance in the fungal wheat pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici, and they used quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping of growth and melanization under axenic conditions in two cross-populations to identify genomic regions associated with tolerance to oxidative stress.
