NiTe Nanorods as Electrode Material for High Performance Supercapacitor Applications

Electrocatalytic urea conversion (CO(NH2)2 + H2O → N2 + 3H2 + CO2) is a facile and scalable technique for urea-rich wastewater treatment, meanwhile with hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). However, it remains great challenge to develop a bifunctional catalyst for both HER and urea oxidation reaction (UOR) simultaneously due to the torpid kinetics of 6 e– transfer during UOR. Here, graphene oxide (GO) induced phase-controlled synthesis of nickel tellurides derived from Ni foam (NF) as freestanding electrocatalysts is reported. Results show that NF-assisted NiTe composited with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) exhibits superior activity for both HER and UOR. With the combined merits of HER and UOR, an efficient electrolyzer with integrated NiTe/rGO/NF was constructed as anode and cathode, representing overall urea decomposition at a low overpotential and even being driven by a commercial cell of 1.5 V. Rational Design of Metallic NiTex (x = 1 or 2) as Bifunctional Electrocatalysts for Efficient Urea Conversion

E-learning is the synthesis of multimedia and social media platforms powered by Internet and mobile technologies. Great popularity of e-learning is encouraging governments and educational institutions to adopt and develop e-learning cultures in societies in general and universities in particular. In traditional e-learning systems, all components (agents and services) are tightly coupled into a single system. In this study, we propose a new architecture for e-learning with two subsystems, namely, e-learning and e-testing. The motivation of the research is to improve the effectiveness of the learning process by extracting relevant features for elastic learning and testing process. We employ a multi-agent system because it contains five-layer architecture, including agents at various levels. We also propose a novel method for updating content through question and answer between e-learners and intelligent agents. To achieve optimization, we design a system that applies various technologies, which guarantee various dynamic features for e-learning systems, such as intelligence, distributed nature, adaptive attitude, interaction, accessibility, and security. Agent assisted e- learning enable the users to collect the quantifiable and sensible material; examine, and distribute customized knowledge from multiple e-learning sources. Intelligent agents, being program helper or assistants, are deployed at different levels of abstraction in this architecture to manage information overload and create environment for learners. Moreover, this proposed system is designed by keeping in view several characteristics specific to e-learning system such as interaction, personalization, adaptation, intelligence, interoperability, accessibility and security. The architecture is designed to support instructional design, to retrieve relevant learning materials, to process and analyses data to enable meaningful e-learning recommendations for instructors and learners by considering all issues that existing e-learning architectures don’t address. Most of the existing e-learning architectures don’t consider all the features in a single system so there is a need for a generic architecture that should support all the features to make the e-learning system more efficient. The outcome of this approach is to provide flexible and lightweight systems for e-learning environments.

An architecture of agent-based multi-layer interactive e-learning and e-testing platform

Nickel, one of the transition metals synthesised with chalcogenides such as Se, S and Te with possible combinations of nickel chalcogenides such as NiS2, NiSe, NiSe2 and Ni3Se2. The combination of nickel and telluride are the fewest being observed due to the nature of tellurium that is relatively heavier than both sulphur and selenium, thus poorly-adhesive onto the substrate. Therefore, NiTe2 thin film is being synthesised onto the indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass substrates with the complex additives (Triethanolamine, TEA and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, EDTA) and their properties are studied. The present work is focusing on the NiTe2 synthesise through electrochemical route. Cyclic voltammetry experiments have been done prior to electrodeposition in order to get the electrodeposition potential range. The observable reduction range is between −0.9−(−1.1) V with 5−10 min induction period of full thin film distribution depending upon the electrolyte conditions. The electrodeposition is carried out using the potentials in the reduction region, producing the well-adherent, well-distributed and dark-coloured thin films. Structural studies confirm the presence of NiTe2 in electrolyte containing TEA with crystallite sizes lying on the 9−20 nm range.

Structural studies of NiTe2 thin films with the influence of amino additives

Optimization of solvent composition and injection rate in vapour extraction process

The nanostructural characteristics of direct-current magnetron sputter-deposited Ni4Al alloy films were studied during in situ isothermal annealing in a transmission electron microscope (TEM). An expansion of the lattice by nearly 5% was observed for the synthesized films in their low-thickness and as-deposited state. The lattice size approaches the bulk value when the film thickness increases or after vacuum annealing heat-treatment. The Ni4Al films have a nanocrystalline structure in which the ordered L12 phase appears upon annealing at above 500°C. A grain coalescence trend was found for the Ni4Al films during the in situ annealing above 500°C. This can be the main reason for the abnormal grain growth of these films at these high temperatures.
