Abstract: Many domestic and foreign observers have claimed that Russians have a unique constellation of personality traits that mirrors their distinctive historical and cultural experience. To examine the hypothesized uniqueness of Russian personality, members of the Russian Character and Personality Survey collected data from 39 samples in 33 administrative areas of the Russian Federation. Respondents (N = 7,065) identified an ethnically Russian adult or college-aged man or woman whom they knew well and rated the target using the Russian observer-rating version of the Revised NEO Personality Inventory. Abstract: Using lubrication theory, drying processes of sessile colloidal droplets on a solid substrate are studied. A simple model is proposed to describe temporal dynamics of both the shape of the drop and the volume fraction of the colloidal particles inside the drop. The concentration dependence of the viscosity is taken into account. It is shown that the final shapes of the drops depend on both the initial volume fraction of the colloidal particles and the capillary number. The results of our simulations are in a reasonable agreement with the published experimental data. Computations for the drops of aqueous solution of human serum albumin are presented.

Abstract: We have proposed and investigated a model of drying colloidal suspension drop placed onto a horizontal substrate in which the sol to gel phase transition occurs. The temporal evolution of volume fraction of the solute and the gel phase dynamics were obtained from numerical simulations. Our model takes into account the fact that some physical quantities are dependent on volume fraction of the colloidal particles.

The condensation of methyl {3(4)-[2-(2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-3H-indol-3-ylidene)acetyl] phenyl}carbamates with ethyl acetoacetate in the presence of ammonium acetate and 20 mol% of 1-methyl-3-butylimidazolium chloride or 1-methyl-3-octylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate at boiling in anhydrous ethanol led to the formation of the corresponding 3-pyrrol-3′-yloxindoles with a carbamate function.

Abstract: Reactions of 2-benzylidenemalononitrile and 2-nitro-3-phenylacrylonitrile with aryl azides in diethyl ether at room temperature gave mixtures of regioisomeric 1(3)-aryl-5-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1(3)H-1,2,3-triazole-4,4-dicarbonitriles and 1-aryl-5(4)-phenyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole-5(4)-carbonitriles, respectively. 2-Benzylidenemalononitrile reacted with the same arylazides on heating in boiling chloroform to produce 1-aryl-2-phenylaziridine-2,2-dicarbonitriles.

Abstract: We studied the effect of phenotropil (25 mg/kg intraperitoneally, 5 days) on the immune and psychoemotional state of Wistar rats with LPS-induced immune stress. Hyperactivity of the immune system in animals after treatment with Pseudomonas aeruginosa LPS (100 μg/kg intraperitoneally, 3 days) manifested in a significant increase in the delayed-type hypersensitivity index, antibody titer in the reaction of passive hemagglutination, and phagocytic activity of peripheral blood neutrophils. Locomotor, orientation, and exploratory activities were reduced, while anxiety increased in animals with immune stress. Phenotropil exhibited the psychoimmunomodulatory effect under these conditions, which manifested in prevention of anxiety and fear response, increase in horizontal locomotion and exploratory behavior, and improvement of immunoreactivity.

Abstract: A series of carbamate-containing derivatives of 1,2- and 1,4-oxazine, isoxazoline, isoxazole, benzimidazole-3-oxide, and indole were obtained by [3 + 2]-cycloaddition and ring-closure reactions. The antifungal activity of the synthesized compounds was studied in vitro against Microsporum canis, Trichophyton rubrum, and Candida albicans. Among the tested compounds, the maximum antifungal activity was observed for tautomeric 5(6)-alkoxycarboxamido derivatives of 2-aryl-1-hydroxybenzimidazole-3-oxide sodium salts and 1,2-oxazines.

The greatest achievement in helminthological investigations carried out in reserves is obtaining and analyzing long-term data that quantitatively and qualitatively characterize the interrelation of members in a biocenosis. Abstract: Acylation of 2-aminobenzenethiol with methyl chloroformate in pyridine gave dimethyl 2,2′-disulfanediylbis(2,1-phenylene)dicarbamate instead of expected methyl 2-suylfanylphenylcarbamate. Heating of the product with zinc dust in glacial acetic acid led to the formation of 1,3-benzothiazol-2(3H)-one. Alkylation of the latter with 1,2-dibromoethane and allyl bromide, as well as acylation with chloroacetyl chloride, afforded the corresponding 3-substituted derivatives. 3-[3-(Pyridin-2-yl)-4,5-dihydroisoxazol-5-ylmethyl]-1,3-benzothiazol-2(3H)-one was synthesized with high regioselectivity by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of 3-allyl-1,3-benzothiazol-2(3H)-one to pyridine-2-carbonitrile oxide generated fromN-hydroxypyridine-2-carboximidoyl chloride hydrochloride by the action of triethylamine.

Reactions of 2,2-dinitromalononitrile with 2-phenylpropene or p-methoxyphenylethene resulted in the formation of 2-(1-aryl-2-nitroethyl)-2-nitromalononitriles. 1,1-Diarylethenes reacted with 2,2-dinitromalononitrile to give conjugated 1,1-diaryl-2-nitroethenes due to steric hindrances.

Abstract: Experimental data are shown for the influence of Ni and Sr concentration on phase composition, magnetic and electrical properties of La-Sr manganites with substitution of Mn by Ni. The system of chemical compositions La1−c+xSrc−xMn1−xNixO3 is designed so that the sum of concentrations of divalent Sr and Ni remains constant (c). Under the condition that content of oxygen is stoichiometric, the values of c are equal to concentrations of Mn4+ (f.u.). These values are chosen near phase boundary "orthorhombic-rhombohedral structure" (c = 0.15, 0.17, 0.19) on the classical phase diagram for La1−cSrcMnO3 system and at the region of rhombohedral metal phase (0.20≤c≤0.35). It was found that substituting Ni2+ ions shifted phase boundary to higher values of c. Of great interest is the phenomenon of phase conversion from rhombohedral to orthorhombic structure in the compositions with c = 0.19 and 0.20 when x varies from 0.100 up to 0.125. Fragments of c-T and x-T phase diagrams "ferromagnetic-paramagnetic" have been plotted.

Abstract: The effect of thymalin preparation, α-tocopherol acetate, and stress on hypothalamic centers related to the regulation of the gonadotropic function and age-specific features of such influence have been investigated in experiment. Experimental results indicate the presence of the reaction of neurons of the rostral preoptic area and arcuate nucleus for the experimental effects. The age-specific feature of the response of neurons of the rostral preoptic area and arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus of white rats to α-tocopherol acetate injection is a reduction in the degree of response. Thymalin reduces the threshold of sensitivity of arcuate center neurons to the action of stress.

Abstract: Astrakhan oblast is characterized by a great natural variety and a natural-resource potential that is complex in its component and territorial structure and specific conditions of its operation. The cartographical representation of information is among the most fundamental of the geographical sciences. Representing nature-use conflicts in maps makes it possible to visually control the development of undesirable situations both in local areas and in administrative divisions as a whole. In this paper, several types of nature-use conflict are distinguished, and their cartographical representation is given, providing a visual concept of the impact of one or another type of nature use on the state of the environment in Astrakhan oblast.

Abstract: There are no published data on chemical transformations of 2,5-substituted 1,2-oxazolidine-3,3-dicarbonitriles. With a view to elucidate the direction of hydrolysis of substituted 5-aryl-1,2-oxazolidine-3,3-dicarbonitriles we examined the reaction of 2-(2-nitro-1phenylethoxy)-5-phenyl-1,2-oxazolidine-3,3-dicarbonitrile (I) with dilute (1 : 1) hydrochloric acid. As a result, we obtained cinnamic acid III and benzoic acid (IV) which were formed, respectively, from the isoxazolidine fragment and side chain of compound I.

Abstract: Behavioral and immune reactions were studied in rats and mice with cyclophosphamide immunosuppression. GABAergic agents were found to have psychoimmunostimulating effects. Indexes of delayed-type hypersensitivity and passive hemagglutination antibody titers were measured. The psychophysiological state of the animals was studied using a new model – the Suok test. Administration of phenibut (25 mg/kg) and baclofen (10 mg/kg) restored immune system activity and normalized behavioral reactions, i.e., horizontal and purposive investigative activity, decreased grooming and the duration of freezing, and increased the number of transfers through the central zone and other measures.
