TL;DR: Most respondents indicated that their use of diversity factors with clients was limited; many posited that, although they had been exposed to substantial curricular content on diversity, they found it difficult to apply to "real" clients.
Abstract: Reported are the findings of a nationwide survey of agency based social workers with MSW degrees. Subjects were asked questions about their sociocultural identities, exposure to diversity content in their programs of study, the most and least common types of diversity present in the groups with which they work, and the intervention strategies they apply to group dynamics engendered by member differences. Most respondents indicated that their use of diversity factors with clients was limited; many posited that, although they had been exposed to substantial curricular content on diversity, they found it difficult to apply to "real" clients.

TL;DR: It is found that KBA is an effective intervention for symptomatic knee OA that may be delivered in CB or HB settings, and this results support that K BA is aneffective intervention for symptom-based knee osteoarthritis.
Abstract: Objective. To compare clinic-based (CB) and home-based (HB) deliveries of a knee osteoarthritis (OA) exercise programme. Methods. Outcomes from a CB exercise study ( N =6) utilising kinesthesia, balance and agility (KBA) exercises were compared with those from a HB KBA study ( N =6). Both conditions trained 30 minutes, 3 days per week for 8 weeks. CB sessions were conducted in a group led by an exercise physiologist (EP); HB participants received an initial 3 sessions of one-to-one training from an EP, written/pictorial instructions, telephone and e-mail follow-up, and in-person refresher sessions during weeks 4 and 6. The primary outcome was an OA-specific physical function survey. Community activity level, self-report knee stability, 15-m get up and go walk, and stair climb and descent were also measured. Results. Adherence was 94% in both conditions. KBA improved PF in both CB (59%; 18±12.5 pts; p =0.008) and HB (33%; 7.3±7.5 pts; p =0.03), with no difference between conditions. All outcome improvements were somewhat larger for CB, but these differences did not reach statistical significance. Conclusion. We found no difference in outcomes between CB and HB exercise in this preliminary comparison. Our results support that KBA is an effective intervention for symptomatic knee OA that may be delivered in CB or HB settings.

TL;DR: The results of the simulations support the common beliefs that system scalability has direct associations with performance quality, and the three infrastructurally based methods are effective in improving the scalability of the networked systems.
Abstract: Scalability has been identified in the information systems literature as one of the most prominent risk factors for discontinuity. In this study we performed experiments on a series of simulated network models to quantitatively evaluate the effectiveness of three infrastructural methods for improving system scalability. Furthermore, we studied the relative effectiveness of the various strategies for managing scalability of an ebusiness network system. The results of the simulations support the common beliefs that (a) system scalability has direct associations with performance quality, and (b) the three infrastructurally based methods are effective in improving the scalability of the networked systems. In addition the simulation results revealed that combinations of the three infrastructurally based methods did not always result in improved system scalability. This information can help managers to invest their effort and resources in an effective scalability strategy

TL;DR: To test the null hypothesis that limb dominance (laterality) and side of complaint are not associated in a diverse population, nearly 400 patients of varying age and body size from three South Florida podiatric medical teaching facilities were surveyed in 1995-1996.
Abstract: To test the null hypothesis that limb dominance (laterality) and side of complaint are not associated in a diverse population, nearly 400 patients (40% male, 60% female) of varying age and body size from three South Florida podiatric medical teaching facilities were surveyed in 1995-1996. Radiographs of feet were available for 15% of the patients, and the metatarsus adductus angle was measured on each x-ray. The typical patient was a women (median age, 49 years) of average body weight and average body-mass index. No statistical association was found between laterality and side of complaint in the broader sample, although a significant association did appear in the subsample of patients with bilateral x-rays. The prevalence of metatarsus adductus deformity (metatarsus adductus angle > 15 degrees) among patients with x-rays was 62%. No sex-specific, age-specific, or body size-specific associations were found between handedness and metatarsus adductus deformity.

TL;DR: Solution-focused counseling is proposed as an adjunct to conventional medical treatment for migraine headache and a case example illustrates the application of the model.
Abstract: Solution-focused counseling is proposed as an adjunct to conventional medical treatment for migraine headache. A case example illustrates the application of the model to migraine headache. Implications for the theory, practice, and research of solution-focused counseling are considered.
