TL;DR: In this article, the expansion angle of the diffuser, inclination angle, and length of the cylindrical part at the hole entrance are considered to be the most important geometric parameters of diffuser holes and the effect of a change of exactly these parameters on the film cooling performance is analyzed.
Abstract: The flow conditions at both, the cooling hole exit as well as the cooling hole entrance affect in a very different way the cooling performance downstream of cylindrical and fan-shaped holes. The consequences of a change in a flow parameter very obviously depend on the respective hole geometry. To gain an as complete as possible view of the specific effects of varying operating conditions and hence an enhanced understanding of the dominating mechanisms, a variation of the hole geometry is imperative. The expansion angle of the diffuser, the inclination angle of the hole, and the length of the cylindrical part at the hole entrance are considered to be the most important geometric parameters of diffuser holes. The effect of a change of exactly these parameters on the film cooling performance will be analyzed. For a better assessment of the characteristic effects associated with contouring of the hole, every dif-fuser hole is compared to an adequate cylindrical hole. The comparison will be performed by means of discharge coefficients and local and laterally averaged adiabatic film cooling effectiveness and heat transfer coefficients derived from experiments.Copyright © 2008 by ASME

TL;DR: In this paper, an air conditioner for a motor vehicle, comprising a coolant circuit that is provided with several heat-transferring devices through which a cooledant can be directed, a heat transfer device also being part of a cooling circuit.
Abstract: The invention relates to an air conditioner for a motor vehicle, comprising a coolant circuit (1) that is provided with several heat-transferring devices through which a coolant can be directed, a heat-transferring device (12) also being part of a coolant circuit. Coolant is redirected from portions of the coolant circuit (1), which are shut down during heating, into a portion of the coolant circuit (1), which is active during heating, as required. Also disclosed is a method for operating such an air conditioner.

TL;DR: In this paper, an exhaust gas heat exchanger consisting of exhaust gas pipes and a bypass channel is presented. But the pipe bundle and the bypass channel lead into a common exhaust gas inlet area and a commonhaust gas outlet area, respectively, where a valve actuated by a servo-drive is arranged, guiding the exhaust gas flow through the pipe bundles or bypass channel.
Abstract: The invention relates to an exhaust gas heat exchanger (2) comprising a bundle of pipes (21) consisting of exhaust gas pipes (22) and a bypass channel (23) in a common housing. The pipe bundle is arranged in a first chamber that is crossflown by a liquid coolant and the bypass channel is arranged in a second, separate chamber. The pipe bundle and the bypass channel lead into a common exhaust gas inlet area and a common exhaust gas outlet area in which an exhaust gas valve actuated by a servo-drive is arranged, said valve guiding the exhaust gas flow through the pipe bundle or the bypass channel. According to the invention, the exhaust gas valve has a movable closing organ that is resistant to bending, said organ being preferably embodied as a pivoting semi-flap (27) that is fixed with a longitudinal side (28) to a drive shaft (30) that is arranged crosswise relative to the exhaust gas flow (A).

TL;DR: In this article, a support matrix for a catalytic reactor for scrubbing exhaust gases in an internal combustion engine, composed of layers of alternating steel panels at least some of which are coated with a catalyzer and at least one of which is corrugated so as to form flow channels for the exhaust gases.
Abstract: A support matrix for a catalytic reactor for scrubbing exhaust gases in an internal combustion engine, composed of layers of alternating steel panels at least some of which are coated with a catalyzer and at least one of which is corrugated so as to form flow channels for the exhaust gases. In order to increase the turbulence of the flow in the channels of the matrix, the smooth panel and/or the corrugated panel is subdivided into narrow strips which lie adjacent to one another and are encountered sequentially by the inflowing exhaust gas. Furthermore, the exhaust gases which are divided into small streams may recombine between the strips and thus encounter renewed admixture. They are then redivided in the subsequent strip resulting in an overall intensive contact of each gas stream thread with a surface of the subsequent narrow strip, thereby substantially improving the catalytic efficiency.
