A comparison of attributions, self-esteem, anxiety, and parental attachment in sexually abused and non-abused Korean children

Abstract: This study attempts to address the dearth of information about child sexual abuse (CSA) and psychological functioning in Korean children by measuring the psychological impact of sexual abuse on children in South Korea. The original data were collected on 92 sexually abused children (age 13 or younger) who underwent medical forensic interviews and psychological evaluations prior to treatment. This study collected additional data reflecting specific psychological evaluations from a control group drawn from five randomly chosen elementary schools. The psychological impact on the group of sexually abused children was compared to the control group via the assessment of four major psychological diagnostic criteria: (1) Child Attribution Perception Scale (CAPS), (2) Self-Esteem Scale (SES), (3) Parental Behavior Scale-Child reporting (PBS), and (4) State Trait Anxiety Inventory-Children (STAI-C). An exploratory analysis of the notable activities of U.S. child death review teams.

Abstract: Child death review teams (CDRTs) focus on the prevention of child deaths, but a comprehensive understanding of their activities is lacking This exploratory study addressed this gap through a qualitative analysis of reported CDRT activities using the "spectrum of prevention" framework We collected state-level CDRT reports published 2006-2015, recorded their activities (n = 193), and coded them using the "spectrum of prevention" framework The highest percentage (642%) of activities was categorized under "fostering coalitions and networks" We recommend that CDRTs increase their reporting of activities so others can better understand their potential impact on preventing child deaths

Entrepreneurship and rural development: role of street-level bureaucracy in India

Abstract: In this study, we apply the concept of street-level bureaucracy from public management to analyse the issues relating to the implementation of a mini Hydel project in India, and draw important lessons for entrepreneurs as well as policy planners for the promotion of rural development through entrepreneurship in emerging markets in general. India’s energy policy promotes ‘green energy’ as a renewable and eco-friendly alternative to the fast depleting conventional energy sources with a variety of fiscal and other incentives to encourage private investment in mini Hydel projects (India’s 11th five-year plan, 2002–2007: energy sector). In this paper, based on first-hand observation of one such power sector start-up in India over a three-year period, we carefully analyse the issues confronting entrepreneurs in dealing with street-level bureaucracy, and draw important lessons for entrepreneurs as well as policy planners for the promotion of entrepreneurship and rural development.
