TL;DR: In this article, the authors deal with the assessment of the undrained postcyclic stress-strain behavior of sands under limited or complete (full) liquefaction and its associated strength.
Abstract: The technique presented deals with the assessment, based on drained test behavior and formulation, of the undrained postcyclic stress-strain behavior of sands under limited or complete (full) liquefaction and its associated strength. At present, there is no particular procedure that allows assessment of such undrained postcyclic behavior that could develop full (pore-water pressure ratio, ru =1 ) or limited ( ru <1 ) liquefaction. The prediction of the undrained postliquefaction (full or limited liquefaction) response presented here is based on basic properties of sand such as its relative density ( D rc ) [or ( N1 ) 60 blowcount], the effective angle of internal friction (φ) , the roundness of the sand grains (ρ) , and the drained axial strain at 50% stress level ( e50 ) . The technique presented accounts for the excess pore-water pressure induced by cyclic loading ( Δ uc ) and the postcyclic excess pore-water pressure generated under undrained monotonic loading ( Δ ud ) .

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the relationship between aboriginal hunting, forager ecology, bighorn prey population levels, and the production of rock art and found that there was a correlation between bighhorn depletion and increased rock art production.

TL;DR: Simulation results indicated that the traffic flow arrival pattern has significant impacts on Ramp queue length; vehicle platoons released from the upstream signalized intersection tend to exacerbate ramp queue length.
Abstract: This paper compares queue lengths at the two different on-ramp configurations: arterial-to-freeway ramp and freeway-to-freeway connector. Mesoscopic queue length simulation models are developed bas...

TL;DR: In this article, archaeological data from several sites along the Laguna de Santa Rosa in Sonoma County, California, show that marine shellfish were transported more than 25 km to the interior beginning about 2,600 years ago.
Abstract: Archaeological data from several sites along the Laguna de Santa Rosa in Sonoma County, California, show that marine shellfish were transported more than 25 km to the interior beginning about 2,600 years ago. Initiation of this activity seems to be linked to the rise of logistical organization associated with the more settled lifestyles of the Middle Archaic Berkeley Pattern. Analysis of energetic return rates for obtaining and transporting these resources indicates that better returns could have been achieved by staying closer to home. These findings may reflect feasting activities that served a variety of social functions well beyond the simple subsistence needs of the people.
