09 May 1969TL;DR: In this paper, a unitary frame assembly is removably mounted on the frame members and is constructed in such a manner that it can be mounted on chassis of different types, including a wheeled chassis with a pair of generally parallel, longitudinally extending frame members.
Abstract: Vehicle construction for use with an aerial lift having a wheeled chassis with a pair of generally parallel, longitudinally extending frame members. A unitary frame assembly is removably mounted on the frame members and is constructed in such a manner that it can be mounted on chassis of different types. The unitary frame assembly includes support pads adapted to be mounted on the frame members, vertical members extending upwardly from the support pads and a mounting ring disposed in a generally horizontal plane mounted on the vertical members. The mounting ring is adapted to have the aerial lift mounted thereon.

01 Oct 1973TL;DR: This filling compound for communication cables has a thixotropic promoting material added to petroleum to increase the temperature to which the filling compound can be heated before it will flow and drip from the cable as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: This filling compound for communication cables has a thixotropic promoting material added to petroleum to increase the temperature to which the filling compound can be heated before it will flow and drip from the cable. Colloidal silica in percentages of 6%, and substantially less than 6% raises the drip point of petrolatum to an unexpected degree, as high as 80 DEG C; and at the same time leaves the filler material soft enough to permit installation of the cables at temperatures as low as -30 DEG C.

22 Sep 1978TL;DR: In this paper, an improved insulation for electric cables and an improved method of making the insulation are presented, where the screw of the extruder is used to effect a mixing of the ingredients in an improved polymer system for cable insulation.
Abstract: This invention is an improved insulation for electric cables and an improved method of making the insulation. Cross linked polyethylene insulation is too stiff, particularly in high voltage cables which require a thick layer of insulation. Copolymers of polypropylene have electrical properties substantially equal to those of polyethylene, but do not have the necessary physical strength and have to be filled with clay or other filler that provides the required strength but degrades the electrical characteristics. A novel feature of this method is the utilization of the screw of the extruder to effect a mixing of the ingredients in an improved polymer system for cable insulation.

08 Sep 1969TL;DR: In this paper, the unprocessed, damaged, or unuseable end portion of a long wire is wrapped around an auxiliary reel or dummy reel adjacent to the main reel and as the reel and dummy rotate, the wrapping wire is first on the dummy and then shifted to continue its winding on the main reels.
Abstract: When starting the winding of wire on a reel, the unprocessed, damaged, or unuseable end portion of a long wire is wrapped around an auxiliary reel or dummy reel adjacent to the main reel and as the reel and dummy rotate, the wrapping wire is wrapped first on the dummy and then shifted to continue its winding on the main reel. A pushoff device operated from a wire guide of the traverse of the winding machine releases a loop of wire as the transfer is made from the dummy to the reel. The pushoff, being at the traverse speed, is slow and the loop makes the apparatus suitable for use with any existing reeling machines and does not require a slack accumulator.
