09 Nov 1976TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an apparatus for evaluation installed cable systems, including those that are already in use, using dissipation factor, partial discharge (corona) and insulation resistance of the cable system.
Abstract: This apparatus is for evaluation installed cable systems, including those that are already in use. The apparatus measures dissipation factor, partial discharge (corona) and insulation resistance of the cable system; all of these being necessary to determine the condition of the cables. This invention is unique, in that it can be used with installed cable systems that have their metallic shielding grounded; and the apparatus can be mounted on a truck or trailer for movement to any place where an installed system is to be evaluated.

23 Sep 1969TL;DR: In this paper, a mold for the terminations of electrical cords and harnesses has electrically conductive walls of the mold insulated from electricallyconductive wall of holders for prongs or sockets of the Mold termination; and the holders for different prongs and sockets are insulated from one another.
Abstract: This mold for the terminations of electrical cords and harnesses has electrically conductive walls of the mold insulated from electrically conductive walls of holders for prongs or sockets of the mold termination; and the holders for the different prongs and sockets are insulated from one another. Conductors from these insulated walls lead to a fault detector which indicates defects such as open circuits, short circuits, crosses or ''''whiskers'''' in the cord or harness at the completion of the molding operation, thus providing an automatic test and eliminating the usual separate testing step in the manufacture of electrical cords and harnesses.

28 Feb 1973TL;DR: This article added considerable additional titanium dioxide to scrap nylon, which instead of causing a dull matte and grainy surface as would be expected, rather causes a slick, smooth surface in the nylon film, not previously found in any nylon surfaces.
Abstract: Scrap nylon is used in making the outer coating for magnet wire, but the lowest cost scrap nylon has been that with high amounts of titanium dioxide which gave the wire coating a dull frosty appearance not acceptable to customers This invention adds considerable additional titanium dioxide to scrap nylon, which instead of causing a dull matte and grainy surface as would be expected, rather causes a slick, smooth surface in the nylon film, not previously found in any nylon surfaces This slick, smooth surface is felt to be an improvement over the shiny, bright surface previously obtainable

23 Aug 1976TL;DR: In this article, an aerial lifting equipment has a platform, a support structure and means for rotatably mounting the support structure upon the platform for rotation about a substantially vertical axis.
Abstract: Aerial lifting equipment having a platform, a support structure and means rotatably mounting the support structure upon the platform for rotation about a substantially vertical axis. A boom structure is mounted on the support structure for movement about a substantially horizontal axis and drive means is mounted upon the platform and the support structure for causing rotation of the support structure about the vertical axis. The drive means includes a track structure mounted in a fixed position on the platform. The drive structure has a circular track surface and at least three spaced friction members adapted to engage the drive surface. Motive means is provided for driving at least one of the friction members. The motive drive means includes planetary gearing within one of the friction members. Preloading means is provided for applying preloading forces to the one friction drive member to yieldably urge it into engagement with the circular drive surface. Azimuth switch means is provided for preventing rotation of the support structure about the means rotatably mounting the same through more than a predetermined number of revolutions.
