TL;DR: In this article, two different approaches for designing a linear Fresnel reflector solar concentrator (LFRSC) for a triangular absorber configuration are presented, one allowing a variation in the width of the mirror elements, while the second uses mirror elements of equal width.

TL;DR: Phosphoserine phosphatase (PSPase), a cytosolic enzyme has been purified 106 fold from human brain, by employing conventional protein purification techniques and was found to be specific for phosphoserine, whereas other phosphoesters including phosphothreonine and phosphoproteins such as casein and phosvitin were found to been poor substrates.
Abstract: Phosphoserine phosphatase (PSPase), a cytosolic enzyme has been purified 106 fold from human brain, by employing conventional protein purification techniques. The use of MgCl2 (10 mM) and chloroform treatment, during purification enabled the removal of non-specific proteins. The final enzyme preparation exhibited a broad pH optimum of 5.6–6.6 and could dephosphorylate bothl andd enantiomers of the phosphoserine, but with different Km values for O-P-L serine (3.6×10−5M) and O-P-D serine (1×10−4M). Enzyme activity was found to be specific for phosphoserine, whereas other phosphoesters including phosphothreonine and phosphoproteins such as casein and phosvitin were found to be poor substrates. The enzyme activity was uncompetitively inhibited byl-serine. Further the PSPase activity was inhibited by vanadate, (41%), trifluoperazine (23%), chlorpromazine (34%) at an equimolar concentration of 1 mM, whereas lithium and ethanol did not influence the enzyme activity. Minor tranquilizers such as diazepam and chlordiazepoxide activated the enzyme activity to an extent of 13% and 59% respectively. In addition, species and regionwise heterogeneity was observed with respect to distribution of enzyme activity in six major areas of human, rabbit and rat brains.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provided a relatively simple procedure for making such cost estimates from information which is readily available from executing agencies involved in urban infrastructure projects in India and found that infrastructure costs are not systematically different for large and small cities.
Abstract: There is considerable apprehension concerning the cost of rapid urbanization in developing countries. However, actual costs of urbanization have seldom been computed. This paper provides a relatively simple procedure for making such cost estimates from information which is readily available from executing agencies involved in urban infrastructure projects in India. It is found that infrastructure costs are not systematically different for large and small cities. Differences in costs are more related to differences in physical factors such as geography, terrain, and climate, and especially to the different levels of service standards used. It is also found that the costs of replacement investment assume increasing significance with growing urbanization. Planning activities must therefore give greater emphasis to replacement investments than is generally the case. The main conclusion is that the cost of providing basic urban infrastructure in India can be kept within manageable limits in the foreseeable future provided that modest standards are maintained. The appropriate level of urban infrastructure investment should be roughly double the current level in India.

TL;DR: Heat labile toxin produced in-vitro was tested in rabbit ileal loop (RIL); vero cell line and Biktn plate, and its impact on nutritional status is discussed.
Abstract: Enterotoxigenicity of E. coli isolates was tested in 136 cases of acute gastroenteritis. Heat labile toxin (LT) produced in-vitro was tested in rabbit ileal loop (RIL); vero cell line and Biktn plate. The results of live cultures were evaluated in RIL. The overall data of these four models were not statistically different. Elaboration of LT in these four models ranged from 14-21.4%. Out of the 20 LT producing strains 14 (70%) also revealed ST. Of the 6 positive reactors on vero cell line, appeared to produce vero toxin (VT) only. Out of 29 LT positive E. coli, 1 (3.45%) and 2 (6.89%) strains respectively revealed colonising factor antigen (CFA) I and II. The high incidence of ETEC showing both LT and ST has been highlighted in the age group 0-4 years, and its impact on nutritional status is discussed.
