TL;DR: In this paper, a mixed-integer linear programming model is proposed for the location-allocation of health care facility networks (i.e., temporary testing laboratories) to ensure that test samples from various geographical locations reach testing laboratories as soon as possible and at minimum cost to ensure timely testing.
Abstract: Previous pandemics in 1918, 1957, 1968, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic have provided sufficient evidence of health concerns caused by influenza pandemics. The existing health care system is overwhelmed by the surging demand of susceptible and infected individuals due to the COVID-19 outbreak. It is crucial to identify and isolate infected individuals to prevent pandemic spread. Thus, a mixed-integer linear programming model is proposed in this study for the location-allocation of health care facility networks (i.e., temporary testing laboratories). The objective of this study is to ensure that test samples from various geographical locations reach testing laboratories as soon as possible and at minimum cost to ensure timely testing. Hence, the proposed model has two objectives: (i) minimization of the total cost and (ii) minimization of the maximum travel time from a patient node to a testing facility. Furthermore, to prevent capacity underutilization, the capacity of temporary testing laboratories is tailored in the model. A case study in Maharashtra, India, is used to demonstrate the real-life applicability of the proposed model. The study results has interesting implications for decision- and policy-makers.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a comprehensive model of retailer-customer relationship and found that apart from store level attributes, customer-level attributes also play an important role in retailer and customer long-term relationships.
Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this study is to develop a comprehensive model of retailer–customer relationship. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected using questionnaires administered at organized grocery retail outlets in India. A total of 612 customers were surveyed. Findings – Empirical evidence suggests that perception of merchandise quality depends upon perception of quality of services. It is also found that apart from store-level attributes, customer-level attributes also play an important role in retailer–customer long-term relationships. Practical implications – Retailers would be benefited by an in-depth knowledge of factors that determine long-term relationships with customers. The finding of the study implies that efforts of retailers to retain customers should be directed toward the right set of customers. In the present study, details about customer-level attributes will benefit retailers to target the right set of customers. Academicians would be benefitted by developing in-depth und...

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate that an organizational identity which is strong enough to foster shared purpose and clarity of vision but still fluid enough not to become restrictive to change is the optimal condition for small organizations.
Abstract: While some researchers argue that a strong organizational identity guides strategy and provides shared understanding among employees, others argue that it restricts change and makes it difficult for organizations to respond to external environment. In this study, we demonstrate that an organizational identity which is strong enough to foster shared purpose and clarity of vision but still fluid enough not to become restrictive to change is the optimal condition for small organizations. Data collected from 162 small and medium manufacturing businesses in India demonstrates a curvilinear relationship between identity strength and performance, and this relationship is significantly influenced by participatory decision-making. By utilizing data from a relatively underexplored context of Indian small and medium enterprises, this study attempts to fill a crucial gap in the HRM literature. Implications for theory and HRM practices are discussed.
