TL;DR: In this article, the authors conducted an experiment in an oil palm company estate in Sumatra, Indonesia, and reported the results of the first two years of the experiment and calculated plantation gross margins, which indicated that the initial effects of this experiment are encouraging to consider less intensive management practices as economically and ecologically viable options for oil palm plantations.
Abstract: Oil palm plantations are intensively managed agricultural systems that increasingly dominate certain tropical regions. Oil palm monocultures have been criticized because of their reduced biodiversity compared to the forests they historically replaced, and because of their negative impact on soils, water, and climate. We experimentally test whether less intensive management schemes may enhance biodiversity and lessen detrimental effects on the environment while maintaining high yields. We compare reduced versus conventional fertilization, as well as mechanical versus chemical weed control (with herbicides) in a long-term, full-factorial, multidisciplinary experiment. We conducted the experiment in an oil palm company estate in Sumatra, Indonesia, and report the results of the first two years. We measured soil nutrients and functions, surveyed above- and below-ground organisms, tracked oil palm condition and productivity, and calculated plantation gross margins. Plants, aboveground arthropods and belowground animals were positively affected by mechanical versus chemical weed control, but we could not detect effects on birds and bats. There were no detectable negative effects of reduced fertilization or mechanical weeding on oil palm yields, fine roots, or leaf area index; however, stem growth was enhanced under mechanical weeding. Also, we could not detect detrimental effects of the reduced fertilization and mechanical weeding on soil nutrients and functions (mineral nitrogen, bulk density, and litter decomposition), but water infiltration and base saturation tended to be higher under mechanical weeding, while soil moisture and microbial biomass varied with treatment. Economic performance, measured as gross margins, was higher under reduced fertilization. There might be a delayed response of oil palm to the different management schemes applied, so results of future years may confirm whether this is a sustainable management strategy. Nevertheless, the initial effects of the experiment are encouraging to consider less intensive management practices as economically and ecologically viable options for oil palm plantations.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the notion of mathematical communication skills, with coverage of two things: the ability of students to use mathematics as a tool of communication (language of mathematics), and the student's ability to communicate mathematics is learned as the content of the message should be delivered.
Abstract: Until now, the role of teachers in building students' mathematical communication skills, especially in mathematics is still very limited. Communication skills are a very important aspect that needs to be owned by students who want to succeed in their studies. Similarly, according to Kist (Clark, 2005) effective communication skills is an ability that needs to be owned by the students for all subjects. Mathematical communication skills (mathematical communication) in the learning of mathematics is very necessary to be developed. This is because through mathematical communication students can organize mathematical thinking both orally and in writing. In addition, students are also able to provide an appropriate response among students and media in the learning process. Even in the association community, someone who has good communication skills will tend to be more adaptable to anyone where it is located in a community, which in turn will be a success in life. In this paper, the author presents the notion of mathematical communication skills, with coverage of two things: the ability of students to use mathematics as a tool of communication (language of mathematics), and the student's ability to communicate mathematics is learned as the content of the message should be delivered. How and why communication is important to build a mathematical community through open communication in the classroom.

TL;DR: In this paper, an analysis of the nutrition content of Spirulina sp is reported, which has found vitamins, minerals, amino acids, pigments, and essential fatty acids.
Abstract: An analysis of the nutrition content of Spirulina sp is reported. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the nutritional value of Spirulina sp that produced by the large culture at ambient temperature. The analysis method was used high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, spectrophotometers UV-Vis and inductively Coupled Plasma-OES. The analysis has found vitamins, minerals, amino acids, pigments, and essential fatty acids. It is concluded that Spirulina sp which is produced by large-scale culture is a good source of nutrition and potent an alternative superfood.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors aimed to provide empirical evidence that corporate governance implementation, managerial ownership, institutional ownership, board of executive, and independent executive affected corporate performance, and the result showed that control function from the ownership did determine improving corporate performance.
Abstract: The research aimed to provide empirical evidence that corporate governance implementation, managerial ownership, institutional ownership, board of executive, and independent executiveaffected corporate performance. Population of the research was companies listed at IndonesianStock Exchange (ISX) between 2006 – 2008; sampling method used was purposive sampling as well asmultiple regression analysis. The result showed the implementation of GCG affected corporate performance. This meant that if the listed companies at BEI and have been surveyed by IICG implement agood corporate governance, the performance would increase. The higher corporate governance wasmeasured by corporate governance index perception, the higher corporate obedience and result ina good corporate performance. Institutional ownership affected corporate performance. The greaterinstitutional share ownership, the better corporate performance. The result showed that controlfunction from the ownership did determine improving corporate performance. Managerial ownership, board of commissioner, and commissioner independent did not affect corporate.
