TL;DR: The fundamental theorem of natural selection states that for a random mating population with fitnesses dependent on the genetic constitution at a single locus, the mean fitness of the population increases with time.
Abstract: FISHER'S fundamental theorem of natural selection1 states that for a random mating population with fitnesses dependent on the genetic constitution at a single locus, the mean fitness of the population increases with time. This is true for an arbitrary number of possible alleles at the locus and for arbitrary fitness values.

TL;DR: An investigation of the fine structure of the cell wall was carried out on representative species of four morphological forms of collenchyma, viz. annular, angular, plate and lacunate, in all forms lamellae were observed in which the orientation of cellulose microfibrills was transverse.
Abstract: An investigation of the fine structure of the cell wall was carried out on representative species of four morphological forms of collenchyma, viz. annular, angular, plate and lacunate. In all forms lamellae were observed in which the orientation of cellulose microfibrills was transverse. These lamellae alternated throughout the thickness of the wall with lamellae in which the orientation of cellulose microfibrils was longitudinal. The distribution of pectic substances within the wall, when stained with ruthenium red and by the alkaline hydroxylamine-ferric chloride method of Reeve (1958), was generally not observed in lamellate form although instances of lamellae with high pectic content were observed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the relationship between the deformation of an ionospheric layer and the electric current, or magnetic disturbance in it, was explored in detail, and the magnetic disturbance associated with East-West current in the ionosphere was calculated in terms of the production and loss of ionisation.

TL;DR: In this paper, the interaction of tertiary phosphines, arsines and stibines with iodocarbonylrhodium solutions yields the complexes, [Rh(CO)L 2 I] and [Rh (CO) L 2 I 3, whereas with pyridine and aniline, anions of the type [RH(CO]LI 4 ] − are the only products obtained.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors established infinite classes of regular graphs with the property that any two distinct vertices have a fixed number of other vertices joined to both of them, which correspond to certain Hadamard matrices.
Abstract: We establish several infinite classes of regular graphs with the property that any two distinct vertices have a fixed number of other vertices joined to both of them. The graphs are found by constructing their incidence matrices, which correspond to certain Hadamard matrices.

TL;DR: For a quasi-skew Hadamard matrix of order 4m and (4n−1, k, m−n+k) configurations with circulant incidence matrices, there exists an HadAMard matrix (4m(4n − 1).

TL;DR: In all cases examined no hydrated complexes lose their water molecules below 150°C indicating perhaps the presence of only co-ordinated water as mentioned in this paper, and the latter compounds decompose by loss of two moles of HCl and form the apparently six-co-ordinate oxychloride complexes MOCl(QO)4, which in turn decompose at approximately the same temperature as MCl3. H2O.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors define an algebraically closed field of characteristic p (≠ 0) and a finite group whose order is divisible by p. The isomorphism class of the F G -representation module M is written { M } or, where no confusion arises, M. A (G ) denotes the F-representation algebra of G over the complex field G (as defined on pages 73 and 82 of [6]).
Abstract: Throughout this paper F is an algebraically closed field of characteristic p (≠ 0) and g is a finite group whose order is divisible by p . We define in the usual way an F -representation of g (or F G -representation) and its corresponding module. The isomorphism class of the, F G -representation module M is written { M } or, where no confusion arises, M. A ( G ) denotes the F-representation algebra of G over the complex field G (as defined on pages 73 and 82 of [6]).

TL;DR: In this article, the chronopotentiometric reduction behavior of several complexes of copper(II), palladium(II) and rhodium(III) has been investigated at platinum and mercury electrodes.
Abstract: The chronopotentiometric reduction behaviour of several complexes of copper(II), palladium(II) and rhodium(III) has been investigated at platinum and mercury electrodes. The aquo complexes examined were shown to undergo some dissociation before reduction at the mercury electrode. With the exception of the ethylenediamine system ligand adsorption was observed on the mercury pool electrode. As a result it was possible to calculate the degree of adsorption of some of the ligands. The rate constants for the reduction of the copper complexes were measured and found to follow the same order as the polarographic reduction potentials.

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the existence of such a graph is in fact equivalent to a certain partially balanced incomplete block design, and the known necessary conditions for (V, K, Λ)-graphs then follow from well-known necessary condition for designs.
Abstract: Certain theorems which are already known show that if a partially balanced incomplete block design with suitable parameters exists then there is a (V, K, Λ)-graph. We prove that the existence of such a graph is in fact equivalent to the existence of a certain partially balanced design. The known necessary conditions for (V, K, Λ)-graphs then follow from well-known necessary conditions for designs.

Abstract: Early in 1644, the more active and radical men in the House of Commons decided that if the war against the king was to achieve anything, firm action was needed to defeat him. Parliament needed a centralized executive to run the war effort efficiently. When Scotland became Parliament's ally, this executive had to be a joint body, representing the Scottish Estates as well as both English Houses of Parliament. The result was the Committee of both Kingdoms, planned earlier by the Commons' moderate leader John Pym, who had begun to see, towards the end of 1643, that peace negotiations were getting nowhere and that Parliament would have to defeat the king in order to gain the concessions for which it had begun the war.1
