TL;DR: Punchbowl, Signature and Dogleg Caves were found to be younger than Early Miocene basalts in the Goodradigbee valley at Wee Jasper, NSW as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: Previously Punchbowl, Signature and Dogleg Caves low down in the Goodradigbee valley at Wee Jasper, NSW, could only be inferred to be younger than Early Miocene basalts on the plateau to the west. Five main quasi‐horizontal cave levels, with discrete bodies of fluvial sediment at more frequent intervals, invited application of magnetostratigraphy to this sequence of passages, which are successively younger downwards, in the hope of more precise dating. Thirteen sites at 10 altitudes over a range of 31 m were sampled at 2–8 points each. The lower third of the system yielded normal polarity and so formed since 0.73 Ma. Treating the palaeomagnetic data conservatively, the upper two thirds, yielding dominantly reversed polarities, can be regarded as forming between the Brunhes‐Matuyama boundary and the Jaramillo. However, this implies a drastic change in rate of lowering of local karst base level and valley incision for which there is no morphological support. Assuming a linear rate of vertical cave developme...

Abstract: In the first part of this paper [Marchal, Yoshida, Sun Yi-Sui 1985] we have analyzed three-body systems satisfying the condition r ≦ kR where k is a suitable constant, r the mutual distance of the two masses of the “binary” and R the distance between the center of mass of the binary and the “third mass”.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors considered a three-body system with three given pointmasses and analyzed its bounded solutions with a given angular momentum, and they found that the greatest lower bound is always at least 99.9% of the desired value and that the above conjecture is always true.
Abstract: Let us consider a three-body system with three given pointmasses and let us analyze its bounded solutions with a given angular momentum. Among these bounded solutions we found the three usual families of elliptic Euler solutions, with collinear central configurations, and a beautiful result would have been the following: ‘The greatest lower bound of the moment of inertia (with respect to the center of masses) for these elliptic Euler solutions is also the greatest lower bound for all bounded solutions of the same masses and angular momentum’. With the help of a new efficient test of escape we found that the greatest lower bound is always at least 99.9% of the above desired value and we think that the above conjecture is always true. This new test also leads to many adjacent results and especially, for the present, to the smallest delimitation of the zone of bounded motions. As other tests ours uses the Jacobi decomposition of the three-body motion with r being the mutual distance of the two masses of the ‘binary’ and R the distance between the center of mass of the binary and the ‘third mass’. The study is divided into two parts. In the first we analyze the motion of the third mass, its acceleration and its escape velocities when, with a suitable scalar k, a condition of the type r≦kR remains forever satisfied. In the second part we will look for initial conditions under which the inequality r≦kR will remain forever satisfied and we will develop the corresponding test and its applications.

TL;DR: In this paper, the distribution, source, mineralization, migration and accumulation of gold is discussed, and the results show that all ore-controlling strata or source beds related to the gold deposits have high background levels of gold; the gold and other ore-forming elements associated are obviously derived from the country rocks.
Abstract: Six kinds of element association in the gold deposits in the studied region are distinguished: (1) tungsten-antimony-gold; (2) tungsten-gold; (3) antimonygold; (4) lead-zinc-silver-gold; (5) uranium-silver-gold; and (6) simple gold. The present paper deals with the distribution, source, mineralization, migration and accumulation of gold. The results show that all ore-controlling strata or source beds related to the gold deposits have high background levels of gold; the gold and other ore-forming elements associated are obviously derived from the country rocks. The mineralization of gold is related chiefly to regional metamorphism or alkali-metasomatism. In response to metamorphism of ore-controlling strata, gold was removed into solutions, and then transported and deposited in some parts of the ore-controlling strata. The main form of gold carried in the solutions was Na[Au(HS)2]. Native gold or electrum were precipitated from the ore solutions and concentrated into ore deposits with the decrease ofT, pH andfo2.

TL;DR: In this paper, the single ion anisotropy of Fe3+ions at each site of the 7 sublattices 2d, 4e, 4f IV, 4f VI, 6g, 12k, and 4f in the ferrite Zn 2 W has been calculated by crystal field theory using point charge approximation.
Abstract: Single ion anisotropy of Fe3+ions at each site of the 7 sublattices 2d, 4e, 4f IV , 4f VI , 6g, 12k, and 4f in the ferrite Zn 2 W has been calculated by crystal field theory using point charge approximation. As expected, the results show that the contributions of different sites are different which may be positive or negative. This model can explain the experimental results of substituted W-type ferrites.

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the generalized Newton algorithm (GN(r) can be described as a fixed-point algorithm, and sufficient conditions for convergence of the GN(r), for r = 1, 2, 3, were provided.
Abstract: This paper shows that the generalized Newton algorithm [GN(r)], developed by Kalaba and Tishler (Ref. 1), can be described as a fixed-point algorithm. In addition to specifying sufficient conditions for convergence of the GN(r), we show that, forr=1, 2, 3, its rate of convergence increases with the order of the derivatives which are used.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the effects of reservoir on precipitation and found that the main effects are decreases of summer rainfall and annual rainfall (100 mm at a point 10 km apart from the margin), and slight increase in winter.
Abstract: The Xinanjiang reservoir is located in the mountainous region of Zhejiang and Anhui Provinces. Since the construction of the reservoir in 1959, there was no sufficient amount of stored water during the years 1960–1972. This paper analyzes-the effects of reservoir on precipitation. The results obtained are: (1) The main effects are decreases of summer rainfall and annual rainfall (100 mm at a point 10 km apart from the margin), and slight increase in winter. (2) At the site farther from the reservoir and higher in altitude, annual rainfall increased, 100–200 mm increase at the 50–60 km distancee. (3) The average annual rainfall for the whole basin decreases only by 6 mm or so. (4) The effect changes from year to year. It is less in the rainy year than in the dry year.

Abstract: Conformation of the two molecular forms, E_3 and E_4, of glueoamylase (EC 3.2.1.3.) fromMonaseus rubiginosus Sato has been studied with ultraviolet difference spectral and circulardiehroism spectral methods. The UV difference spectra produced by competitive inhibitor mai-tirol was mainly contributed by tryptophyl residue. The fraction of tryptophyl residues exposedto ethylene glycol was 0.31%, to polyethyleno glycol was 0.21% for E_3, those for E_4 were0.47% and 0.19%, respectively. The a-helix contents calculated from the far UV eireulardiehroism spectra were 22.8% in E_3 and 15.3% in E_4, which mesas that the E_3 moleculehad a more compact conformation than E_4.

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of absorbing atoms in a laser cavity on the critical exponents of abrupt transitions between steady states in the system of single mode onephoton laser driven by an external coherent field is discussed.
Abstract: The influence of the existence of absorbing atoms in a laser cavity on the critical exponents of abrupt transitions between steady states in the system of single mode onephoton laser driven by an external coherent field is discussed. An isolated threshold when\(\bar \sigma = \bar \sigma _0 ,\bar \sigma = - \kappa \bar \gamma _ \bot S/\bar N|\bar g|^2 (\bar S - S)\),and a kind of threshold when , where\(\bar \sigma \) is the pump parameter of the absorbing atoms, is obtained. The asymptotic forms of the families of potential functions for the system near these threshold are also found. The well-known scaling hypothesis in the general homogeneous function form is shown to be a characteristic of these asymptotic families. Four threshold exponents, β, δ, γ′ and α′ and four threshold amplitudes,B, D, Γ′ andA′, near each of these thresholds, are obtained. The threshold exponents near each threshold obey the scaling laws of critical phenomena, while the corresponding amplitudes obey the definite relations between exponents and amplitudes.

TL;DR: In this paper, the existence of periodic orbits of the first sort in the restricted problem of three bodies in which one of the main bodies is an ellipsoid is discussed, and the initial conditions for these periodic orbits differ from those in the case where oblatenesses are neglected by quantities of the order of the perturbations due to the figure.

TL;DR: In this article, the Jacobi decomposition of the 3-body motion is used to obtain a lower bound on the region of phase space where bounded motions occur. But the region is much smaller than generally expected and numerical computations of periodic orbits show that they approach very near to the true limit.

TL;DR: In this paper, it was found that for solution of sodium silicate with mole number equal to 1, as the concentration of the solution lowered, the degree of polymerization decreased and the relative concentration of monosilicate anion increased.
Abstract: Sodium silicate in solution has been studed by ~(29)Si NMR spectroscopy. It was found that for solution of sodium silicate with mole number equal to 1, as the concentration of the solution lowered, the degree of polymerization decreased and the relative concentration of monosilicate anion increased, the lower the concen- tration of silicate solution, the more the relative concentration of monosilicate. It was also found that the regular changes of chemical shift δ and spin lattice relaxation time T_1 of various species of silicon and added salt effect on sodium silicate solution varied with mole number and concentration of the silicate in solution.
