Abstract: The presence, development and production of mycotoxins by Aspergillus flavus and Fusarium verticillioides were studied in corn ears under field conditions after artificial contamination of corn silks. The planted area was divided into five treatments: T1, inoculated with A. flavus solution containing 1 × 108 spores, ears covered; T2, inoculated with F. verticillioides solution containing 1 × 108 spores, ears covered; T3, inoculated with F. verticillioides plus A. flavus solution containing 1 × 108 spores of each, ears covered; T4, sprayed with sterile phosphate-buffered saline, ears covered; T5, non-sprayed silks, uncovered ears. Soil and air samples were also collected and analysed for the occurrence of fungi. Water activity, relative air humidity, rainfall and temperature were determined to assess the correlation between abiotic factors and the presence of fungi in the samples. Contamination with the inoculated fungus predominated in T1 and T2. In the other treatments, F. verticillioides was the most frequently isolated contaminant irrespective of treatment. Considering the production of mycotoxins, a positive relation between the production of fumonisins B1 and B2 and the frequency of F. verticillioides was statistically verified in all treatments. Abstract: A tong positioning system positions a power tong about an oilfield tubular connection to make up or break out a threaded connection. An extendable arm and a retainer device on the extendable arm. In a preferred embodiment, the retainer device comprises opposing laterally-movable retainer arms defining an adjustable opening for at least partially enclosing one of the upper tubular and the lower tubular. The extendable arm is retractable for thereafter moving the power tong laterally toward the tubular connection.

Abstract: At the Instituto de Zootecnia, APTA, Sao Paulo StateBrazil, it was carried out an experiment to evaluated the chemical quality and ruminal degradation for dry matter (DM), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and protein (CP) of sunflower and corn silages. For chemical evaluation of the silages, a total randomized design with nine replicates was used. For in situ degradability was used a split-plot design with three replicates, in which the plots were the times of incubation and the subplot the silage. Sunflower silage showed higher concentration of crude protein (11.6 vs 9.4%), ether extract (10.1 vs 3.2%), acid detergent fiber (42.7 vs 31.9%) and lignin (9.4 vs 3.7%), and lower concentration of dry matter than corn silage (22.0 vs 34.6%), respectively; and also higher concentration of ammonia nitrogen (10.7 vs 5.8 %) and acetic acid (3.0 vs 0.79%) and lower concentration of lactic acid (3.7 vs 11.3%) than corn silage. The effective degradation rates of DM, NDF and CP were lower in the sunflower silage. Corn silage showed more favorable characteristics for ensiling process.

Abstract: We present the fundamentals of a consistent relativistic theory of spectra of the exotic pionic atomic systems on the basis of the Klein-Gordon-Fock equation approach and relativistic many-body perturbation theory (electron subsystem). The key feature of the theory is simultaneous accounting for the electromagnetic and strong pion-nuclear interactions by means of using the generalized radiation and strong pion-nuclear optical potentials. The nuclear and radiative corrections are effectively taken into account. The modified Uehling-Serber approximation is used to take into account for the Lamb shift polarization part. In order to take into account the contribution of the Lamb shift self-energy part we have used the generalized non-perturbative procedure, which generalizes the Mohr procedure and radiation model potential method by Flambaum-Ginges. There are presented data of calculation of the energy and spectral parameters for pionic atoms of the 93Nb, 173Yb, 181Ta, 197Au, with accounting for the radiation (vacuum polarization), nuclear (finite size of a nucleus) and the strong pion-nuclear interaction corrections. The measured values of the Berkley, CERN and Virginia laboratories and alternative data based on other versions of the Klein-Gordon-Fock theories with taking into account for a finite size of the nucleus in the model uniformly charged sphere and the standard Uehling-Serber radiation correction are listed too.
