TL;DR: The comparison with existing theories and experiments shows that the new theory not only has the precision which can match with that of the current-transport theory, but is far more flexible in describing the transport process of energetic ions in matter.
Abstract: Extending the bipartition model of electron transport to the case of light-ion transport, the approximate solution for the light-ion distribution function under the continuously-slowing-down approximation has been developed so as to go a step further in obtaining the light-ion-range profile and other transport quantities (Luo Zhengming, Phys. Rev. B B32R, 812 (1985); B32R, 824 (1985)). The comparison with existing theories and experiments shows that the new theory not only has the precision which can match with that of the current-transport theory, but is far more flexible in describing the transport process of energetic ions in matter.

TL;DR: In this paper, the EPR parameters (g∥, Δg, D) and the absorption spectra of Cr3+ in α-LiIO3 are calculated by crystal-field theory.
Abstract: The EPR parameters (g∥, Δg, D) and the absorption spectra of Cr3+ in α-LiIO3 are calculated by crystal-field theory. In the calculation the influence of Li+ vacancies in the vicinity of Cr3+ ions is taken into consideration and four parameters (N, μ, q2, α) are used. The results calculated agree well with experimental data. On this basis it is found that the host crystal compressibility can not be assumed to be the local compressibility in the vicinity of Cr3+ ions to explain the effect of pressure on EPR spectra. The possible local compressibilities are obtained from the EPR spectra under pressure. These values are supported by macroscopic thermodynamic analysis and microscopic crystal-field theory. TL;DR: Age-related increases in LH and FSH but not in testosterone or prolactin were noted in normal men, and no adverse effects of vasectomy were observed apart from a 16% increase in mean LH levels in the vasectomization compared to non-vasectomized men of similar ages.
Abstract: Plasma reproductive hormones (testosterone, LH, FSH and prolactin) were measured in 298 normal healthy males aged 30-73 years from rural areas of Sichuan Province, People's Republic of China, and in 505 similar men vasectomized between 1 year and 25 years previously. Age-related increases in LH and FSH but not in testosterone or prolactin were noted in normal men. No adverse effects of vasectomy were observed apart from a 16% increase in mean LH levels in the vasectomized compared to non-vasectomized men of similar ages.

TL;DR: A method for making a phase-only composite filter using a plane reference wave as the carrier and the characteristics and possible applications of this correlation recognition method are discussed.
Abstract: Combining the concepts of phase-only filtering and multiple-exposure holography, we propose a method for making a phase-only composite filter using a plane reference wave as the carrier. We used this filter for the optical recognition of four kinds of hardware items, and the results of a computer simulation are presented. The characteristics and possible applications of this correlation recognition method are discussed.

TL;DR: The physiology of wheat seeds varied after being implanted with N + ions as mentioned in this paper, which increased the average effective tillering and average length of roots, thus increasing the drought endurance of wheat.
Abstract: The physiology of wheat seeds varied after being implanted with N + ions. This was demonstrated by the phenomenon that wheat grew better than usual. Both average effective tillering and average length of roots were doubled, thus increasing the drought endurance of wheat. The height of the wheat-stem increased by 32% and the length of the wheat-ear by 30%. The production was raised by about 20 to 30%. The implantation was made with N+ ions at a dose of 1 ×1015 ions cm 2 and the energy used was 60 keV.

Abstract: Based on thh parameter embedding of age at first marriage, the article systematically analysesthe uncertain phenomena in the love affairs and applies the Fuzzy Analysis for the first timeto the research on age relations of marriage. Thus it has been naturally got the Fuzzy Mathematics Model for age distribution of first marriage with clear explanation on their behaviours, discovering fundamentally the general rule over the age relations of marriage. With the helpof the Model, we successfully describe the age distribution of women of reproductive age, unmarriedand first married, in China. The Model can be easily applied to the quantitative and systematicanalysis.

TL;DR: In this paper, a random phase mask placed close to the BSPOF in the Fourier plane is used in the correlation system to spread the energy of the noise peaks in the output plane.
Abstract: It has been shown that synthetic phase-only filter formed by using different plane wave carriers may provide very high optical efficiency and can produce very sharp correlation peaks in the case of multiobjects correlation recognition. Binarizing the synthetic phase-only filter (SPOF) would make filter making much more easy. But binary synthetic phase-only filter (BSPOF) would produce undesirable noise which mainly consists of convolution-like peaks in the output plane. These noise peaks may sometime rise very high especially when objects are symmetrical. In this paper a random phase mask placed close to the BSPOF in the Fourier plane is used in the correlation system. It can spread the energy of the noise peaks in the output plane. So that, there is no any obvious noise peaks presented, however, at the same time, the sharp correlation-like peaks of SPOF are remained very well. The computer simulation results are given. The comparison of the correlation outputs of BSPOF with that of SPOF is discussed. And 3-D plots of correlation output are presented.

TL;DR: In this paper, the baryon spectrum is calculated by means of the composite particle representation based on the nonrelativistic potential model, and the effective quark potential is determined by fitting the meson spectrum.
Abstract: In this paper, the baryon is regarded as a two-body system which consists of a diquark and a quark. The baryon spectrum is calculated by means of the composite particle representation based on the nonrelativistic potential model. The effective quark potential is determined by fitting the meson spectrum. Therefore, there is only one adjustable parameter in the calculations, and that is the harmonic oscillator frequency ω in the single-quark basis. The theoretical results are reasonably consistent with the experimental data.

Abstract: A complete computer program has been developed for the non-empirical calculation of spin-orbit coupling constants in linear molecules. This program can be used to obtain all kinds of integrals about spin-orbit Hamiltonian. The method was used to calculate the spin-orbit coupling constants of NS(X2π) and SiF(X2π). Excellent agreement between experimental and calculated values was obtained provided that the core polarization was included.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors compared trace elements in tomato seeds from the earlier Western Han dynasty (200 B.C.) tomb in suburban Chengdu and present tomato seeds in Chengdu Qingdao and Beijing and found significant differences between the elemental composition and relative contents of ancient tomato seeds.
Abstract: Comparative analysis of trace elements in tomato seeds from the earlier Western Han dynasty (200 B.C.) tomb in suburban Chengdu and present tomato seeds in Chengdu Qingdao and Beijing has been performed. The intended purpose of this analysis is to provide some useful information for archaeologists and biologists to solve controversial problems involved in the place of origin of the ancient tomato seeds. In order to study the ancient agricultural technique, seed reservation and environment science, the trace elements in carbonized food and the wood of a coffin have also been analyzed. The experimental results demonstrate that there are significant differences between the elemental composition and relative contents of ancient tomato seeds. In this paper the analysis of trace elements in historic relics from the group tombs of the minority nationality in Aba Tibetan Autonomy State of Sichuan Province is also reported. It is found that in the glazed pearls there is much Ba and Pb which is significant for the study of glass manufacture techniques in ancient China All experiments were done in vacuum by nondestructive PIXE analysis using a 2.5 MV Van de Graaff accelerator and a Si(Li) spectrometer at the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology of Sichuan University.

TL;DR: In this article, the condition for insensitivity against thermal lensing of multielement resonators is derived analytically for the first time, using the equivalent resonators and transfer matrix method.
Abstract: Optical pumping induces thermal lensing in a laser rod, which degrades the beam quality and reduces the output stability of the solid-state laser and should be minimized for practical applications. One method to solve this problem is the design of dynamic stable TEMoo-mode resonators proposed first by Steffen et al [1]. In order to increase TEMoo-mode volume, increase effective resonator length or reduce beam devergence, multielement resonators are often used. In this paper, using the equivalent resonators and transfer matrix method and following the calculated results in [2],[3], the condition for insensitivity against thermal lensing of multielement resonators is derived analytically for the first time. The expression is simple but exact and holds for the general case, a typical and important example is telescopic resonator.
