TL;DR: Analytical results indicate that the brightness field distribution of the molded microlens arrays generated by μICM is better than those made using μIM, and it is demonstrated that mold temperature is the most important processing parameter for brightness fieldribution of molded microLens arrays made by μIM orμICM.
Abstract: This study describes the brightness field distributions of microlens arrays fabricated by micro injection molding (μIM) and micro injection-compression molding (μICM). The process for fabricating microlens arrays used room-temperature imprint lithography, photoresist reflow, electroforming, μIM, μICM, and optical properties measurement. Analytical results indicate that the brightness field distribution of the molded microlens arrays generated by μICM is better than those made using μIM. Our results further demonstrate that mold temperature is the most important processing parameter for brightness field distribution of molded microlens arrays made by μIM or μICM.

TL;DR: It is found that the moderating effect of unabsorbed slack can extend the inverted U-shaped relationship between TK distance and a firm's scope of technological development toward two striking favorable contrasts: technological diversification and specialization.
Abstract: This study elucidates how a firm accesses external technological knowledge (TK) and utilizes such TK, facilitated by slack resources, to determine the scope of technological development. We examine data from 947 cooperative technology agreements among 248 electronics and information technology firms in Taiwan. The results demonstrate that there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between TK distance and the scope of technological development. Furthermore, we find that the moderating effect of unabsorbed slack can extend the inverted U-shaped relationship in the direction of higher levels of technological diversification and greater TK distance. Additionally, unabsorbed and absorbed slack, respectively, moderate the linear relationship between TK distance and a firm's scope of technological development toward two striking favorable contrasts: technological diversification and specialization. Unabsorbed slack plays a positive catalytic role in the creation of technological diversification; however, absorbed slack does not serve such a role.

TL;DR: The results of this study can help online booksellers to understand the role played by consumers' motives for reading internet book reviews in the book‐purchasing process, and the resulting influences on purchases.
Abstract: Purpose – This paper aims to present an exploratory investigation that was used to understand consumer motives for reading internet book reviews as well as the effects of these reviews on purchasing behavior.Design/methodology/approach – First, focus group interviews of 45 subjects who regularly read internet book reviews and have purchased online books were conducted. Then, content analysis was used to document the rich and diverse experiences and viewpoints of the interview participants.Findings – This exploratory study uncovered five main motives behind the reading of internet book reviews by consumers and illustrated the effects of these reviews and opinions on consumers' purchasing and communication behavior.Practical implications – The results of this study can help online booksellers to understand the role played by consumers' motives for reading internet book reviews in the book‐purchasing process, and the resulting influences on purchases. At the same time, the results can serve as a reference in...

TL;DR: A service innovation framework that takes into account both industry- and firm-level strategies, and provides guidance to assist firms in identifying and securing their product-market positions, defining the supply chain and network relationships, and appropriating the gains from service innovation is developed.
Abstract: This paper develops a service innovation framework that takes into account both industry- and firm-level strategies. The main emphases in the industry level are value proposition – identifying potential industry demand and earnings, value deployment – positioning the firms in the value networks to expand value and value appropriation – exploiting resources and capturing the benefits of service innovation (i.e., the 3V Innovation Model). At the firm level, the key processes are new service design, development and delivery (i.e., the 3D Innovation Model). The 3V Innovation Model provides a guidance to assist firms in identifying and securing their product-market positions, defining the supply chain and network relationships, and appropriating the gains from service innovation. The 3D Innovation Model presents firms with specific processes for implementing service innovation. Business model innovation serves as a linkage between the industrial-level 3V and firm-level 3D models for implementing and realising the economic value from service innovations.
