TL;DR: Cross-sectional follow-up data on 111 adolescents in a re-education residential facility were obtained in three domains--school, legal, and level of care--at 6, 12, 18, and 24 months postdischarge.
Abstract: Cross-sectional follow-up data on 111 adolescents in a re-education residential facility were obtained in three domains - school, legal, and level of care - at 6, 12, 18, and 24 months postdischarge. Reports by community-based professionals on individual functioning were assessed on several criteria, the most stringent of which indicated successful outcomes for nearly 60% of the adolescents. Characteristics of the more successful students are noted, applications of the psychoeducational residential approach for program structure are considered, and implications for positive ecological outcomes are discussed.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the three dimensions of burnout, emotional exhaustion, lack of personal accomplishment and depersonalization among counselors at a short-term, residential treatment facility for emotionally disturbed children and adolescents.
Abstract: Maslach and Jackson's (1986) three dimensions of burnout, emotional exhaustion, lack of personal accomplishment and depersonalization, were investigated among 78 counselors at a short-term, residential treatment facility for emotionally disturbed children and adolescents. Two waves of data were collected so that possible changes in burnout over time could be assessed. Measures of co-worker support (team cohesion and perceived quality of friendships) were better predictors of burnout than supervisor support. High levels of co-worker support were consistently and positively related to greater personal accomplishment. Levels of personal accomplishment increased and emotional exhaustion decreased as staff accumulated more counseling experience. Women residential counselors experienced higher levels of emotional exhaustion than did their male counterparts. Initial levels of burnout were powerful predictors of later levels of burnout. Theoretical and practical implications of these findings for human services providers are discussed.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the continuity of autobiographical memory in the waking state and in sleep via Crovitz and Schiffman's retention function and found that the retention function was found to hold for vivid memories of the previous day.
Abstract: Two experiments investigated autobiographical memory by studying dream reports. The continuity of autobiographical memory in the waking state and in sleep was demonstrated via Crovitz and Schiffman's retention function. The retention function was found to hold for vivid memories of dreams and vivid memories of waking experiences. It was also found to hold for waking events referenced in dream reports. In addition, the incidence of day residues was examined. About half of the dream reports collected included references to waking events of the previous day. The results were discussed in light of Freud's theory of dreams and cognitive theories of memory.

TL;DR: Reciprocal nominations between team members were used as a measure of team friendships and friendship between members of the same team was positively related to personal accomplishment and inversely related to emotional exhaustion.
Abstract: The relationship between team friendships and burnout was investigated. The participants were counselors from 16 work teams in a short-term residential facility for emotionally disturbed children and adolescents that was located in the United States. The burnout dimensions were lack of personal accomplishment, emotional exhaustion, and depersonalization (Maslach & Jackson, 1986). Reciprocal nominations between team members were used as a measure of team friendships. Friendship between members of the same team was positively related to personal accomplishment and inversely related to emotional exhaustion. The frequency of three aspects of team friendships was also examined: personal discussions, work discussions, and having fun. Having fun with a team friend was positively related to personal accomplishment, and having work discussions with a team friend was inversely related to depersonalization. The women reported more frequent contact with team friends than the men did.

TL;DR: Wediko is offered as a case study to assist other schools and community-based mental health agencies in administering universal screenings in their schools with a focus on how to support the initial implementation phase.
Abstract: Trauma-informed schools are working to mitigate the effects of childhood trauma across the life span (NCTSN, 2008). While universal screenings are recommended as part of a trauma-informed framework...
