Reasoning with Probabilities and Maximum Entropy: The System PIT and its Application in LEXMED

Abstract: We present a theory, a system and an application for common sense reasoning based on propositional logic, the probability calculus and the concept of maximum entropy. The task of the system PIT (Probability Induction Tool) is to provide decisions under incomplete knowledge, while keeping the necessary additional assumptions as minimal and clear as possible. We therefore enrich the probability calculus by two principles which have their common source in the concept of model-quantification ([8, 17]) and find their dense representation in the well-known principle of Maximum Entropy (MAXENT [6]). As model-quantification delivers a precise semantics to MAXENT, the corresponding decisions make sense not only in our current project of medical diagnosis in LEXMED.

Component transporter system esp. for transfer press for large components has stationary drive motor for pivot/transporter arm, and toothed rack transmitter parts

Abstract: A press etc. has a processing station with independent transporter for a component. The transporter has a drive system for a pivot resp. transporter arm (13). The system has one or more stationary drive motors (8,9), each acting on a movement transmitter part (10,11). Regulation of direction and RPM resp. standstill of the motors generate a coordinated movement of the transmitter parts, and a movement superposition is used to adjust a programmable movement curve of the pivot/transporter arm. The arm is born on a slide (23) with linear guide (24), and has a drive lever. The transmitter parts consist of a toothed rack drive (8-12).

Rotary valve and method of operating it

Abstract: A rotary valve for feeding bulk material comprises a housing having a cavity, a supply opening leading to said cavity, and a discharge opening. Within the cavity, there is a cellular wheel rotatably supported. The distance between the outer circumference of the cellular wheel and the inner wall of the cavity can be altered. At least one sensor determines the distance and provides an output signal representative for it. Either the cellular wheel or the inner wall of the cavity or both are at least locally deformable in dependence on the output signal. In addition, the invention relates to a method or operating a cellular wheel where the above-mentioned distance or gap is determined or measured and at least one of said inner and outer radial dimensions of the cellular wheel and the cavity are controlled accordingly.

Erforderliche Lageveranderungen fur beispielsweise das Einlegen in Werkzeuge konnen direkt durch die Transporteinrichtung erfolgen. Auf Zwischenablagen oder Orientierstationen kann verzichtet werden.

Abstract: The invention relates to a hydromechanical drive system for at least one press ram of a cutting and/or forming press, at least one drive cylinder being connected to a following kinematic chain. This kinematic chain is designed in such a way that a complete ram stroke, i.e. a downward motion and an upward motion, is effected during a single piston stroke in only one direction. In addition, the proposed drive system has mechanical controlled synchronization.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for controlling casting parameters and in particular to the control of the metering of the molten metal in a casting chamber of a vacuum die-casting machine. Measurement devices connected to a computer determine the volume and condition of the molten material. An evacuation device and a vacuum valve are controlled in the form of a control circuit.

Locking device for hydraulically operated presses

Abstract: The locking device is for a simple or double-acting press for high pressure shaping, with a ram (4) moving upwards and downwards and lockable by a cross-bar (11) in the shaping position. The dimension of the height of the cross-bar depends upon the closure stroke of the press (1) and is approximately or completely equal to it. The cross-bar in the locked position is arranged as a vertical extension of the upper rail walls. The height of the cross-bar is at least three times greater than its thickness. The length of the cross-bar corresponds approximately to the length of the ram and consists of a single piece or several segments.

Abstract: The drive device has a lifting mechanism for vertical movement of a pair of gripper rails (2,3) and an opening and closing mechanism for transverse movement of the gripper rails via their opposing lifting columns (9). Each gripper rail has an independent drive (14,15) and a motion transfer device (16,17), e.g. a belt drive, for permitting its independent horizontal movement.

Abstract: Each processing station (8,9) in a press has an independent transporter unit (2) with detachable cross heads (5). The cross head is born spherically in the transporter unit via e.g. a cardan joint. A suction cross head is moveably held on each cross head via guides in carriages. The carriages are located in linear guides and moved in horizontal direction by a drive via a bar and spindle nut system.

Computerunterstütztes Lösen offener raumgeometrischer Aufgaben

Abstract: Vor dem Hintergrund der Vernachlassigung des Raumgeometrie-Unterrichts in der Mittelstufe ist die “Kultur” der offenen raumgeometrischen Aufgaben als unterentwickelt zu bezeichnen. Geeignete Werkzeugsoftware fur das raumgeometrische Darstellen, Konstruieren und Berechnen kann das Entwickeln und Losen offener raumgeometrischer Aufgaben, deren Inhalt sich am klassischen Raumgeometrie-Curriculum orientiert, unterstutzen. Solche Aufgaben werden vorgestellt und exemplarisch mit Computerunterstutzung gelost. Es wird wird berichtet uber Ergebnisse erster unterrichtspraktischer Evaluationen der computeriserten Behandlung ausgewahlter offner Aufgaben. Abschliesend wird eingegangen auf die allgemeine Bedeutung der Computerwerkzeugnutzung im Raumgeometrie-Unterricht, auf die generelle Evaluationsproblematik einer solchen Nutzung und auf die weiterfuhrende Entwicklung computerunterstutzter offener raumgeometrischer Aufgaben.

The plunger has at least two different diameters D1 and D2, whereby the smaller diameter D2 is located at the rear end of the plunger. A sealing element (11) which corresponds to the D2 diameter is provided in the suction casing (13).

Damit eine Verbindung der Schmelze mit Luft vermieden wird, schlagt die Erfindung die Zufuhr von Antioxidationsgas derart vor, das ein einfacher Anbau und ein geringer regeltechnischer Aufwand eine hohe Funktionssicherheit gewahrleisten.
