Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the breakage of lactose agglomerates due to impact on a target plate using distinct element analysis has been investigated and a good agreement has been found between the simulation results and experimental measurements.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, a method for simulating the motion of balls under the presence of a powder sample in a tumbling mill is proposed, which is based on the particle element method and a coefficient of friction of colliding balls is the key to simulate the motion under powder filling.

73 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: A comprehensive review of emerging technologies and recent developments in air pollution control equipment and processes specifically addressing particulate removal is provided in this paper, focusing on approaches with a high degree of novelty and/or involving new modifications to conventional systems.

56 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, a particle shape separation technique was used to recover copper from electric cable wastes used in computer devices from the point of view of resource recycling, and the most effective operating conditions for these apparatus were experimentally investigated.

30 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the macroscopic and microscopic wettability of fine silica powder surfaces loaded with trimethyl-silyl groups (TMS) was studied by the chemical reaction of hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) molecules with surface silanols.

24 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present two possibilities to calculate the grade efficiency and the pressure drop of cyclone dust separators based on simplified physical assumptions and a detailed physical description of the flow field and considering turbulence, re-entrainment and secondary flow.

21 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, a new concept for assembling powder particles is proposed and preliminary research results of the assembling process are reported, which is as follows: electrified patterns are formed on an insulating substrate using an electron beam drawing and are observed with an SEM by the voltage contrast method, the substrates are dipped into a solvent in which particles are dispersed, and the particles are adhered to the electrified pattern under suitable conditions.

20 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Watano et al. as mentioned in this paper developed a particle image probe and an image processing system to continuously monitor granule growth in fluidized bed granulation, and the optimized system could measure granule number median diameter and shape factor with high accuracy under various operating conditions.

13 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, a low-vacuum scanning electron microscope (LVSEM) was used to measure the size of the microcapsules and the yield of the materials involved.

12 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, a planetary ball mill was used to synthesize amorphous aluminum powders by high energy grinding under N2 atmosphere at room temperature, and the modes of amorphization and recrystallization during the grinding were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscope.

12 citations

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus for the continuous production of monodispersed, spherical ferric oxide particles was designed, consisting of two starting solution reservoirs, a feeder, a mixer and a Teflon reaction vessel.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The surface areas of the resulting mullite powders derived from the sol-gel route varied depending upon the aging and/or drying condition, due to the different agglomeration states of the primary particles, precipitated by the hydrolysis of the precursor solutions as mentioned in this paper.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, a cyclone was applied to char recovery to investigate the effects on dust properties at 1.67-1.87 MPa and 573-723 K. The cyclone collected larger particles and increased their specific surface area with consequent ineffectiveness in pressure loss reduction in the dust cake.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of abrasive powder worn from the ball media on the preparation of low temperature sinterable α-alumina powder was investigated in a tumbling mill.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, room temperature grinding of nine kinds of powder mixtures prepared by the combination of alkaline earth metal sulfates (M-SO4, M = Ca, Sr and Ba) and alkali metal hydroxides (R-OH, R = Li, Na and K) was conducted in a planetary ball mill.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the inverse gas chromatography technique at infinite dilution was used to calculate the acidic and basic constants of four carbon fibers and determined specific interactions between them and model organic molecules and proved the amphoteric feature of such caron fibers.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, a data reduction method by means of a rectangular pressure drop pulse (RPDP) was developed to measure pierced bubble size and velocity for Group A powders using specially prepared size fractions of FCC powders in a 0.152 m fluidization column.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: A purged pressure probe has been developed to trace the change of pressure drop with time in the collapse process, and hence the dense-phase voidage and the gas velocity in the dense phase can be obtained as discussed by the authors.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe local measurements of powder bed displacement in an inclined vessel and investigate the dependency of the displacement on the intensity of the impact stress, the bed height and the angle of vessel inclination.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: A two-stage granulation method using air pressure swing is applied to the granulation of various kinds of fine powders, and the relationship between the physical properties of powders and their granularity is examined as discussed by the authors.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, a core-shell-type composite powders were prepared by hydrolysis of titanium tetraisopropoxide or tetraethyl orthosilicate in a dispersion of core particles adsorbed with water in hexane.
