TL;DR: Age, sex, breed and management systems are among the factors that influence blood-based parameters of farm animals and it is important to establish baseline indices for these parameters on the basis of these factors and determine the effects ofThese factors on these indices.
Abstract: This article presents an overview of haematological parameters and factors affecting their values. Blood act as a pathological reflector of the status of the exposed animals to toxicants and other conditions. The examination of blood provides the opportunity to clinically investigate the presence of metabolites and other constituents in the body of animals and it plays a vital role in the physiological, nutritional and pathological status of an animal. Blood constituents change in relation to the physiological status of an animal. These changes are important in assessing the response of farm animals to various physiological situations. These changes are often caused by several factors; some of which are genetic and others, non-genetic. Age, sex, breed and management systems are among the factors that influence blood-based parameters of farm animals. It is important to establish baseline indices for these parameters on the basis of these factors and determine the effects of these factors on these indices.

TL;DR: This paper found that the human aspects of adaptive capacity, based on the ability to cope with change, social connectedness, and the ability and readiness to use information uniquely differentiated types of farmers from one another and influenced their interest in and capacity to adapt to climate change.
Abstract: This paper is the executive summary of a report1 on a study of 4,000 Australian farmers based on an analysis of a dataset provided by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. It covers farmers from across Australia working in horticulture and broadacre farming. It examines factors that are associated with decisions they may or may not make to adapt to risks posed by climate change. This study found that the human aspects of adaptive capacity, based on the ability to cope with change, social connectedness, and the ability and readiness to use information uniquely differentiated types of farmers from one another and influenced their interest in and capacity to adapt to climate change. The material reported in this paper will be of relevance to policy makers, social researchers, industry groups and farmers, as they address the many adaptive challenges posed to agriculture by climate change.
