TL;DR: In this article, a four-step reaction was proposed for the catalytic oxidation of SO/sub 2/ by aqueous aerosols of MnSO/sub 4/, and data were generated to permit the evaluation of the rate constants.
Abstract: On the basis of a four-step reaction a mechanism is proposed for the catalytic oxidation of SO/sub 2/ by aqueous aerosols of MnSO/sub 4/. Data were generated to permit the evaluation of the rate constants. A computer solution of the reaction rates indicates that the proposed model adequately explains the kinetics of the gas-aerosol as well as the bulk phase situations. In principle the mechanism is applicable to reactions in which other metal-salt catalysts are involved.

TL;DR: In this paper, the densities of partial molal volumes of solutions of carbon dioxide in water were measured in a visual cell, in the range of 0/sup 0/ to 40/sup 1/C and 15 to 500 psia.
Abstract: The literature furnishes a small amount of data on the densities of partial molal volumes of solutions of carbon dioxide in water. This information might be useful, not only in connection with secondary petroleum recovery projects which involve such solutions, but also because it allows a check on the prediction of these properties by means of the Krichevsky-Kasarnovsky equation and the correlation of Lyckman, et al. In this study, these specific volumes of carbon dioxide-water solutions were measured in a visual cell, in the range of 0/sup 0/ to 40/sup 0/C and 15 to 500 psia. From these data, and from solubility data, the partial mole volumes of carbon dioxide in water were calculated. These experimental values were compared with the predictions of the Krichevsky-Kasarnovsky equation (which gave poor agreement) and the correlations of Lyckman, Eckert, and Prausnitz (which have good agreement) with the experimental data. TL;DR: In this article, the particle dynamics of a known mixture of two narrowly sized particles for the first time were determined by means of a special photographic technique (dot-streak-dot) and the results were discussed with respect to the loading ratio, pipe Reynolds number and composition of the mixtures.
Abstract: An investigation was carried out to study the particle dynamics of a known mixture of two narrowly sized particles for the first time. The flow characteristics determined by means of a special photographic technique (dot-streak-dot) were particle velocities, turbulence intensities, pressure drop, slip velocities and drag coefficients. The results are discussed with respect to the loading ratio, pipe Reynolds number, and composition of the mixtures. The particle velocity profile and the particle density distribution were analyzed in light of recent theoretical treatments on transport of solids in pipes. Moreover, the concept of volume/surface mean diameter as the representative diameter of the mixed-particle flow system is evaluated in correlating these flow parameters.
