TL;DR: In this article, the transport of pre-charged particles in a wire-plate precipitator in turbulent flow is investigated by numerical solution of the convective diffusion equation for ease of computation the high voltage wire electrodes are replaced by strip electrodes giving essentially the same potential distribution, provided the comparison is made on the basis of equal values of the space-averaged field at the collector.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, an instrument is described which is able to measure in situ the dissipation of static charge from sheet materials, and the effectiveness of the material can be expressed by a parameter t 1 2, the time taken for charge to decay to half its initial value.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: A review of the literature on the subject of arc discharges on spacecraft dielectric materials that have become charged by energetic electrons and ions is presented in this paper, where the results discussed will be mainly from laboratory measurements of the properties of these arc discharging.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that charge accumulation is not always monotonic: although the magnitude of the charge always increases on average, the charge transfer in any particular contact can be of either sign.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Experiments with the electron gun on the SCATHA satellite produced evidence of beam-plasma interactions, and heating of the low energy electrons around the satellite as discussed by the authors. But, the experiments were conducted near geosynchronous orbit, in the dusk bulge, and plasma sheet, providing a range of ambient plasma densities.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, a one-dimensional model of a filling silo with continuous charge relaxation is proposed, where the temporal solution is divided into the filling period and the relaxation period (after filling stops).

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this article, the NASA Charging Analyzer Program (NASCAP) has developed a mathematical model of the generation, emission and transport of secondary electrons for a spacecraft charging system.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: Personal computer based educational tools which animate the evolutions of electric and magnetic fields in models involving charge relaxation and magnetic diffusion phenomena, as well as programs which demonstrate numerical methods for field computations are described.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a phenomenological account of the preparation and performance of these potential spacecraft materials, including indium oxide, which is easily and economically produced and may therefore offer practicable alternatives to the existing modified forms of Kapton when it is necessary to minimize electrostatic charging on spacecraft.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, a seeding by parasitic particles is compared with a controlled seeding (two fluid-particle systems) which allow the investigation of EHD effects with laser Doppler anemometry in a certain range of electrical fields.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors dealt with the determination of the electric field and the ionic distribution in a dielectric with an electric-field dependent dielectrics permittivity.

TL;DR: An optimization module in the ANSYS® finite element program is also used to design a microstrip transmission line and optimize the design of a coaxial cable, which show excellent agreement with analytical solutions.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: In this paper, an electron spectrometer on Meteosat-2 has yielded a continuous data set since 1982 which has clarified the role of plasmasheet electrons in the detailed current balance which controls spacecraft potentials.

Journal ArticleDOI
