TL;DR: The role of the forensic nurse examiner (FNE) has evolved in response to the needs of a world in crisis and the FNE should be viewed as an integral member of the multi-sectorial investigative team consisting of health care professionals, law enforcement officers, forensic scientists, social science advocates, and representatives from human rights organizations.
