TL;DR: RSF showed a notable cytotoxicity against A549 and MCF-7 cells, and the inhibitions of cell proliferation were related with S/G2 cell cycle arrests.
Abstract: To investigate the cytotoxicity effects and mechanisms on estrogen receptor positive(ER+) cancer cell lines A549 and MCF-7 of the Rhizoma Sparganii flavonoids(RSF),A549 or MCF-7 cells in DMEM mediums with 188,375,and 750 μg/mL RSF were cultured for 3 days, respectively.DMEM with 1% methanol culture cells as control. The cell proliferation activity,anti-a-tublin form, apoptosis as well as cell cycle differences between groups were studied by MTT,immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry technology. As a result, compare to the 1% methanol control groups,RSF could inhibit the proliferation activity, increase the rate of apoptotic bodies, and induce cytoskeleton disorder of the A549 and MCF-7 cells with the dose-related.In addition,S/G2 stage arrests were induced obviously in A549 and MCF-7 cells cultured with 375 and 750 μg/mL RSF.The results indicated that RSF showed a notable cytotoxicity against A549 and MCF-7 cells, and the inhibitions of cell proliferation were related with S/G2 cell cycle arrests.

Abstract: The mulberry variety "Longsang 1"(Morus alba) was cultivated in Gannan Forest Mulberry Industry Science and Technology Demonstration Field of the Qiqihar City in Heilongjiang Province in Northeastern China. In July,August and September of 2009,the leaves of "Longsang 1" were collected, then the volatile components of the essential oils in the leaves were hydrodistillated and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results showed that phytol(alcohols),hexahydrofamesyl acetone(ketones),heptacosane, and pentacosane (hydrocarbons) were the common volatile components of the essential oil.Hexadecanoic acid was dominant in the essential oil from leaves collected in July and August.(E)-β-farnesene,(Z)-β-farnesene,β-bisabolene,trans-αbergamotene and α-curcumene were the main volatile flavor compounds in the essential oil from leaves collected in September.Air-dried mulberry leaves collected in September has relatively high medicinal value due to their higher content of terpenoids in the essential oil.

TL;DR: In this article, a three-level Box-Behnken factorial design was used to investigate the effects of three independent variables, namely solvent composition, extraction temperature and liquid-solid ratio on the response, the yield of total triterpenoids.
Abstract: The optimum conditions for the extraction of total triterpenoids from submergedly cultured Antrodia camphorata were determined by using response surface methodology(RSM).A three-level Box-Behnken factorial design was used to investigate the effects of three independent variables, namely solvent composition, extraction temperature and liquid-solid ratio on the response, the yield of total triterpenoids. The independent variables were coded at three levels and their actual values were selected on the basis of preliminary experimental results. Results showed that the generated regression models adequately explained the data variation and significantly represented the actual relationship between the independent variables and responses.A solvent composition of 86%,an extraction temperature of 75 ℃ and a liquid-solid ratio of 37 were found to be optimal for triterpenoid extraction from A.camphorata in submerged culture.By means of additional experiments, the adequacy of this model was conformed.

Abstract: To develop a sensitive and specific reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) method for simultaneous determination of three flavoniods in Polygonum viviparum, the HPLC separation was performed on a Kromasil C_18 column(250 mm×4.6 mm,5 μm) and detected with DAD at 360 nm. The gradient elution was carried out with methano-H_2O(containing 0.25% phosphoric acid) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 1 mL/min.The results indicated that the calibration curves for viterxin, quercetin and quercitrin were linear over the ranges of 8-40 μg/mL,5-50 μg/mL and 5.33-52 μg/mL,their assay recoveries were 100.3%, 98.9% and 100.4%,their intraday repeatability were 0.78%,0.51% and 0.38%,and interday repeatability were 2.6%,1.9% and 2.1%,respectively.This method was simple, accurate and sensitive,so it could be used for the quality control of P.viviparum.
