A Critical Review of Near Shore and Landfall Pipeline Design and Construction

Abstract
Worldwide expansion of offshore hydrocarbon exploration and the necessity to transport products to users on land presents many technical and environmental challenges. In particular, nearshore and landfall sections of submarine pipelines need to cross very difficult variable terrain, for example, shallow water, tidal flats, shipping lanes, etc. These areas are often exposed to extreme hydrodynamic conditions, geomorphical activity and other hazards. Furthermore, the increasing concern regarding ecological impact caused by the construction and operation of pipelines represents a major challenge to the industry.

The movement of submerged bodies by breaking waves

TL;DR: In this paper, an ultrasonic 3D-probe in the region below the plate was carried out to investigate the stability of the flow phenomenon at the plate and showed that the flow is nearly as strong if the region behind the plate is partly closed.

Assessment of coastal processes for teh design and the construction of the zeepipe landfall in zeebrugge

TL;DR: In this article, Statoil started with the installation of a 40 inch diameter gas pipeline between the Sleipner and later Troll fields in the Norvegian sector of the North Sea and the harbour of Zeebrugge on the Belgian coast.

A Replacement Outfall for Peterhead

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe the design and construction of an outfall into Sandford Bay, Peterhead, on a highly exposed stretch of the NE coast of Scotland, and conclude that the full significance of prevailing sea and weather conditions, and consequently reduced working windows, should be taken into account in the planning and programming of outfall work.

Alaskan transportation: an overview of some aspects of transporting alaskan crude oil

TL;DR: In this article, the authors briefly explore the transportation-related aspects of the design, construction, and operation of the pipeline and support facilities and discuss the Valdez Terminal, the pipeline, the North Slope supply, and vessel particulars and operations.
