Surrogate model for 3D ground and structural deformations in tunneling by the sequential excavation method

TL;DR: In this article , the authors examined the capability of four surrogate modeling methods, namely the Polynomial Chaos Expansion (PCE), Kriging, sequential polynomial-chaos-Kriging (PCK-SEQ), and optimal Polynial-Chaos Krigeling (OPT), to accurately and efficiently capture the ground and structural deformations induced by SEM tunneling.

Design guidelines for concrete segmental linings in transverse interaction with the TBM

TL;DR: In this paper , the TBM transverse actions are examined in detail and a theoretical framework is proposed to help tunnel designers incorporate them into the basis of design and the analyses required for structural verification.

A novel long-short term memory network approach for stress model updating for excavations in high stress environments

TL;DR: In this paper , a Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) network is proposed for stress model updating at the Garson Mine, which is trained using microseismic data, geology, and geomechanical parameters from the FLAC3D model.

Optimal Layout Design for Thrust Systems in Earth Pressure Balance Shield Machines Under Sudden Loads

TL;DR: The relative variation coefficient (CRV), an evaluation index of thrust suitable for sudden loads, is proposed and the layout parameters of a uniform propulsion system are optimised to determine the layout parameter of a nonuniform propulsion system.
