A new approach to partial discharge testing of HV cable systems

TLDR
In this article, the authors describe the application of an innovative partial discharge detection and analysis approach to the diagnosis of HV polymeric cable systems and present the results of PD measurements performed off-line on cable systems, rated from 220 to 400 kV.
Abstract
This paper describes the application of an innovative partial discharge (PD) detection and analysis approach to the diagnosis of HV polymeric cable systems. The results of PD measurements performed off-line on cable systems, rated from 220 to 400 kV just after laying or after some time in operation, are presented. PD generating defect identification and location are discussed, also in relation to forensic observations

An overview of state-of-the-art partial discharge analysis techniques for condition monitoring

TL;DR: In this article, a focus of condition monitoring is to detect partial discharge (PD) especially in the early stages to prevent a serious power failure or outage, which is a key indicator of such electrical failure.

Application of data mining on partial discharge part I: predictive modelling classification

TL;DR: Results indicate SVM is the best method in terms of classification accuracy and processing speed for classification of partial discharge activities.

Evolution of partial discharges during early tree propagation in epoxy resin

TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that partial discharge patterns change through the early stages of tree growth, and consideration of these changes gives insight into the processes of the tree growth and its evolution.

A Framework Linking Knowledge of Insulation Aging to Asset Management - [Feature Article]

TL;DR: In this paper, a multifactor aging framework is described that links the work of those involved in studying aging of dielectrics to the needs of people involved in asset management and network performance.

Digital detection and fuzzy classification of partial discharge signals

TL;DR: In this article, a fuzzy classifier is used for the analysis of the acquired PD-pulse shape signals, and the result of the fuzzy classification is a cluster of signals homogeneous in terms of stochastic features of PD pulses.

Ageing mechanisms and diagnostics for power cables - an overview

TL;DR: The main ageing and failure mechanisms are described and the advantages and limitations of the diagnostic tests available for the different insulation systems used in distribution and transmission cable systems are indicated.

Advanced PD inference in on-field measurements. I. Noise rejection

TL;DR: In this article, a fuzzy classifier is used for noise suppression in measurements performed by ultra wide band digitizers, able to record a large quantity of partial discharge (PD) pulse waveforms.

A new approach to the diagnosis of solid insulation systems based on PD signal inference

TL;DR: In this article, the amplitude, shape, phase, and number of pulses per cycle were measured using a digital instrumentation that can measure the amplitude and shape of the pulses in an induction motor and a hydrogenerator.
