A new approach to the diagnosis of solid insulation systems based on PD signal inference

TLDR
In this article, the amplitude, shape, phase, and number of pulses per cycle were measured using a digital instrumentation that can measure the amplitude and shape of the pulses in an induction motor and a hydrogenerator.
Abstract
The authors have developed digital instrumentation that can measure the amplitude, shape, phase, and number of pulses per cycle. Examples are given of results obtained from an induction motor, a hydrogenerator, a polymeric cable system with a defective joint, and a high-voltage current transformer.

Radiometric location of partial discharge sources on energized high-Voltage plant

TL;DR: In this paper, the propagation of the partial discharge wavefront as it passes through a 4-element antenna array is measured using ultra-high-speed sampling equipment, and the three-dimensional position of the PD source can be calculated using an iterative algorithm.

Design and Application of Surface Wave Sensors for Nonintrusive Power Line Fault Detection

TL;DR: In this paper, a conformal surface wave (CSW) can be used to detect open circuit faults on power line cables, which can be placed easily on a power cable for a nonintrusive open fault detection.

Application of HFCT and UHF Sensors in On-Line Partial Discharge Measurements for Insulation Diagnosis of High Voltage Equipment

TL;DR: This paper proposes an optimized electromagnetic detection method based on the combined use of wideband PD sensors for measurements performed in the HF and UHF frequency ranges, together with the implementation of powerful processing tools.

Digital detection, grouping and classification of partial discharge signals at DC voltage

TL;DR: Experimental results show that the dc PD detection system developed with artificial intelligence methodologies is practical and effective, and several methods to improve separability of the grouping technique are given, including threshold value grouping, marginal coordinates grouping based on 2D parameters plane and grouping using ETFM preprocessed by wavelet denosing.

Partial discharge diagnostics: from apparatus monitoring to smart grid assessment

TL;DR: Partial discharges (PD) are very familiar in the electrical insulation world and are a phenomenon able to reveal or cause incipient failure, as well as need of maintenance, of an electrical apparatus as discussed by the authors.

Digital detection and fuzzy classification of partial discharge signals

TL;DR: In this article, a fuzzy classifier is used for the analysis of the acquired PD-pulse shape signals, and the result of the fuzzy classification is a cluster of signals homogeneous in terms of stochastic features of PD pulses.

Computer-aided recognition of discharge sources

TL;DR: In this paper, a combination of statistical and discharge parameters was used to discriminate between different discharge sources and showed that several parameters are characteristic for different types of discharges and offer good discrimination between different defects.
