Investigation of Na(+),K(+)-ATPase on a solid supported membrane: the role of acylphosphatase on the ion transport mechanism.

TL;DR: The above behavior suggests that protons are involved in the AcP-catalyzed dephosphorylation of the acylph phosphorylated intermediate of Na(+),K(+)-ATPase.

Kinetics and mechanism of phosphate-catalyzed hydrolysis of benzoate esters: comparison with nucleophilic catalysis by imidazole and o-iodosobenzoate

TL;DR: In this article, the catalytically active species is HPO42−, the mechanism of catalysis is nucleophilic, the reaction proceeds via the irreversible formation of acyl phosphate, and the formation of a tetrahedral species by attack of the HPO 42− on the ester CO group is rate limiting.

Hydrogen Peroxide Triggers the Formation of a Disulfide Dimer of Muscle Acylphosphatase and Modifies Some Functional Properties of the Enzyme

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that H2O2 at micromolar levels induces the formation of a disulfide dimer of muscle acylphosphatase, which displays properties differing from those of the reduced enzyme, suggesting that a non-covalently-linked dimer is present in non-denaturing solvents.

Characterization of a novel Drosophila melanogaster acylphosphatase

TL;DR: Analysis of the Drosophila melanogaster EST database led to the characterization of a novel acylphosphatase (AcPDro2), which is clearly distinct from a previously described AcPDro coded by the CG16870 (Acyp) gene from D. melanogasters.

Acylphosphatase levels of human erythrocytes during cell ageing.

TL;DR: The most probable mechanism for the increase of acylphosphatase content and activity during red cell maturation appears to be a de novo synthesis of this enzyme during the reticulocyte stage and its storage, virtually unaffected, in the mature erythrocytes.

Determination of phosphate: Study of labile organic phosphate interference

TL;DR: In this article, an investigation was carried out on a method for the determination of inorganic phosphate which is applicable to the study of phosphate-splitting enzymes and showed that after the color reagent has been added any inorganic phosphoric acid formed cannot react with molybdenum, for the latter has been complexed by the addition of a citrate-arsenite solution.

Aromatic acyl phosphates as substrates of acyl phosphatase.

TL;DR: Two aromatic acyl phosphates were synthesized and their suitable optical characteristics, particularly of benzoyl phosphate, make it possible to use them as advantageous substrates for the continuous measurement of enzyme activity.
