TLDR
In this paper, a simple Hampson-type liquefier capable of producing about a liter of liquid hydrogen per hour is described, without the necessity of a compressor or gasometer.
Abstract
A simple Hampson‐type liquefier capable of producing about a liter of liquid hydrogen per hour is described. Compressed cylinder hydrogen is used avoiding the necessity of a compressor or gasometer. Design details of the heat interchangers and other vital parts are included as well as pertinent data on operation and performance.

The Production of Low Temperatures Down to Hydrogen Temperature

J. G. Daunt
TL;DR: In this paper, the fundamental physical principles involved in the many techniques for the production of low temperatures down to temperatures attainable with liquid hydrogen are given. But, it is not my purpose to detail the technological and mechanical developments attendant on each process of refrigeration, which can be found more suitably in engineering publications.

Gain measurements in stimulated rotational Raman scattering in para hydrogen.

TL;DR: The dependence on CO(2)-laser pump energy of the output Stokes radiation obtained through stimulated rotational Raman scattering in para hydrogen is studied experimentally and effective plane-wave gain was determined as a function of the scattered wavelength by using a theoretical expression for the scattered pulse energy.

Small scale hydrogen liquefaction

TL;DR: In this article, a description of the procedure adopted in designing a hydrogen liquefier to produce a required output is given, applied to a case where 5 liters of liquid hydrogen were required to be produced without the use of a compressor.

The Design of Hydrogen Liquefiers

TL;DR: The general principles underlying the practical design of Joule-Thomson hydrogen liquefiers, utilizing the compressed hydrogen commercially available in cylinders, are discussed in this article, and a typical design for the regenerative interchanger of a small scale liquefier is given.

A Simplified Hydrogen Liquefier

TL;DR: By using a twisted tube heat interchanger, it has been possible to build a small hydrogen liquefier of great simplicity and efficiency, which can be operated from commercial hydrogen cylinders without the use of a compressor as mentioned in this paper.

A combined hydrogen and helium liquefier

B V Rollin
TL;DR: In this article, a description is given of a helium liquefier which needs only liquid air for the initial cooling and is designed to enable low-temperature experiments to be made in the ordinary laboratory.
