TLDR
In this article, the effect of acidity on alkylation activity is discussed and H-mordenite was found to be the most acidic and active catalyst for alkylations of benzene with isopropyl alcohol.
Abstract
Vapour phase alkylation of benzene with isopropyl alcohol over HX, HY, HZSM-5 and H-mordenite is reported. The influence of temperature, mole ratio, feedrate and space velocity has been studied. The effect of acidity on alkylation activity is discussed. Among the different zeolites studied H-mordenite was found to be the most acidic and active catalyst for alkylation of benzene with isopropylalcohol. Zeolite HY and HZSM-5 possess same number of medium plus strong acid sites and show same level of conversion. Medium and strong acid sites play a role in alkylation reaction.

Methylation of Aniline over Mn-Cu Ferrites Catalysts

TL;DR: In this article, the structural and catalytic properties of the mixed spinel ferrite system Mn1-xC uxFe2O4 (x = 0, 0.75, 1.2 h-1.0) have been investigated by X-Ray diffraction, Mossbauer spectra showed the presence of Fe 3+ a t both octahedral and tetrahedral sites.

Mechanism of some conversions over ZSM-5 catalyst

TL;DR: In this article, it was suggested that the ZSM-5-catalyzed conversion of methanol to hydrocarbons involves electrophilic methylation of olefinic intermediates as the main propagation reaction for carbon-carbon bond formation.

Periodic trends in the hydrodenitrogenation activity of carbon-supported transition metal sulfide catalysts

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors have chosen the HDN of quinoline at moderately high pressure as a model reaction, and they have used the same carbon-supported transition metal sulfide catalysts studied by Vissers et al.

Benzene alkylation with ethylene and propylene over H-mordenite as catalyst

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the catalytic selectivity of H-mordenite is due to the special pore structure of this zeolite, and that the catalyst exhibits optimum activity at an activation temperature of 450 °C. The relatively low apparent activation energy of 10 kcal/mole for the conversion to ethylbenzene was discussed.
