TLDR
In this article, the role of water in the Pt-WO3 system was investigated and it was shown that if the WO3 was mixed with platinum black and also if water was preadsorbed on the mixture prior to admitting hydrogen to the system, the reduction did not take place at all at room temperature.
Abstract
It was found that yellow WOs could be reduced at room temperature by molecular hydrogen to form blue solids, the hydrogen analogs of tungsten bronzes with a molar composition of H0.35WO3. But this was possible only if the WO3 was mixed with platinum black and also if water was preadsorbed on the mixture prior to admitting hydrogen to the system. If either one of these conditions was not satisfied, reduction did not take place at all at room temperature. Additional observations of spillover in this and similar systems are reported in this paper. They throw more light on the role of water in the Pt— WO3 system, show the generality of the phenomenon and stress its importance in adsorption, solid state reactions and surface catalysis.

Hydrogen Spillover to Nonreducible Supports

TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that the migration of a hydrogen atom from a metal particle to the surface of a nonreducible support is too slow to explain the observed hydrogenation of molecules adsorbed on the support by spillover of H atoms.

CO adsorption and desorption on size-selected Pdn/TiO2(110) model catalysts: Size dependence of binding sites and energies, and support-mediated adsorption

TL;DR: The results show evidence for efficient support-mediated adsorption (reverse-spillover) of CO initially impinging on TiO(2) to binding sites associated with the Pd clusters.

Gasochromic effect of palladium doped peroxopolytungstic acid films prepared by the sol-gel route

TL;DR: Gasochromic palladium doped peroxopolytungstic acid (Pd:P-PTA) films have been prepared using dip-coating deposition from peroxpolytungstungsticated acid sols into which PdCl 2 was added in molar ratios Pd:W=1:125, 1:100,1:53, and 1:40 as mentioned in this paper.

Surface phenomena in hydrogen absorption kinetics of metals and intermetallic compounds

TL;DR: In this paper, the hydrogen absorption kinetics of film samples with known oxygen precoverage were investigated and shown to play a substantial role in activation and passivation of hydrogen absorption reactions at room temperature.
