TLDR
Data suggest that there are marked age-related changes in rates of collagen metabolism and indicate that synthesis is active even in old animals, where the bulk of collagens produced are destined to be degraded.

Mechanisms of maturation and ageing of collagen

TL;DR: An understanding of these mechanisms is now leading to the development of inhibitors of glycation and compounds capable of cleaving the cross-links, thus alleviating the devastating effects of ageing.

Mechanisms of tissue repair: from wound healing to fibrosis

TL;DR: The development of tissue fibrosis is concerned, which accompanies a number of disease states and demonstrates remarkable parallels with the normal wound healing process; excessive amounts of matrix are laid down but the resolution of scarring, which would be anticipated in wound healing, is impaired.

Aging and Cardiac Fibrosis.

TL;DR: Understanding the pathogenesis of interstitial fibrosis in the aging heart and dissecting the mechanisms responsible for age-associated healing defects following cardiac injury are critical in order to design new strategies for prevention of adverse remodeling and heart failure in elderly patients.

The Extracellular Matrix in Ischemic and Nonischemic Heart Failure.

TL;DR: The role of ECM macromolecules in heart failure is discussed, focusing on both structural ECM proteins (such as fibrillar and nonfibrilar collagens), and specialized injury-associated matrix macromolescules ( such as fibronectin and matricellular proteins).

Structure and Composition of Pulmonary Arteries, Capillaries, and Veins

TL;DR: The need for rigorous quantitative approaches to study of vascular structure in lung is highlighted, bringing together information regarding classification of pulmonary vessels, branching geometry in the pulmonary vascular tree, and a quantitative view of structure based on morphometry of the vascular wall.

What age collagen production decrease?

Collagen production decreases with age, notably declining by at least 10-fold in all tissues by 24 months compared to 1 month in rats.
