An intramolecular c-acylation of an enol: photochemical rearrangement of tricyclo[3.3.2.02,4]deca-6,9-dien-8-on-1-ol

TLDR
Under direct irradiation in methanol, the compound in the title (6) gave tricyclic keto-ester 7.01,7.02,10.3 as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract
Under direct irradiation in methanol, the compound in the title (6) gave tricyclic keto-ester 7. In the presence of acetic acid, 6 in methanol gave tetracyclo[5.3.01,7.02,10.03,5]deca-6,8-dione (8), which underwent futher photochemical change to monocyclic keto-ester 9.

2.13 Selected Diastereoselective Reactions: Aldoltype Additions

TL;DR: The aldol reaction belongs to the class of key stereoselective CC bond formation processes as mentioned in this paper, and provides the means to construct pure stereoisomers with one stereogenic center (acetate aldo) as well as two stereogenic centers (propionate aldehyde) which is one the common requirements of modern synthetic chemistry.
