An introduction to structured population dynamics

TLDR
In this paper, the authors present a case study of multispecies interactions with continuous models of age-structured models and show that these models can be used in a variety of applications.

Stage-structured models of intra- and inter-specific competition within age classes

TL;DR: In this article, an age-structured system incorporating competition among both larvae and adults was derived, and the system is neither cooperative nor reducible to a single equation for either variable, but results are proved for small delays using monotone systems theory and exponential ordering.

Skew-Product Dynamical Dystems: Applications to Difference Equations

TL;DR: In this article, the problem of how many pairs of rabbits will there be after one year when starting with one pair of mature rabbits, if each pair of rabbits give birth to a new pair each month starting when it reaches its maturity age of two months was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Periodic, spatially structured matrix model for the study of anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus) population dynamics in N Aegean Sea (E. Mediterranean)

TL;DR: In this paper, a periodic, spatially structured population matrix model for the study of North Aegean Sea anchovy population structure and dynamics is presented on the basis of its life-cycle, and the ecosystem environmental features.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multiscale Modeling of Follicular Ovulation as a Mass and Maturity Dynamical System

TL;DR: A system of nonlinear PDEs modeling the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles and the dynamics are studied using analysis and dynamical systems tools to improve the treatment of infertility or the reproduction potential in domestic species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bifurcation theory, adaptive dynamics and dynamic energy budget-structured populations of iteroparous species

TL;DR: A technique to evaluate the evolutionary dynamics of the timing of spawning for iteroparous species using a finite-dimensional set of ordinary differential equations with fixed 1-year periodic boundary conditions yielding a stroboscopic map.
