Magnetism and energetics for vacancy and helium impurity in Fe-9Cr alloy: A first-principles study
TL;DR: In this article, the formation energy of vacancy and He impurities at various sites in Fe-9Cr alloys were discussed and the electronic structure and local strain field analyses were performed to understand the origin of energy difference of He at different interstitial sites.

Irradiation-Induced Voids and Bubbles
TL;DR: The first observation of voids in irradiated metals was published by Cauthorne and Fulton in 1967 (Cale and Fulton, in Nature 216:575, 1967) as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-steady-state conditions and incascade clustering in radiation damage modeling
TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of point defect clusters in a radiation damage model for austenitic stainless steel using the chemical reaction rate theory has been investigated and the results indicate that defect behavior is complex and that the limiting behavior predicted by simple analytical solutions is frequently not achieved.

Trapping and diffusion behaviors of helium at vacancy in iron from first principles
Liu Yue-Lin,Shi WenPu +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the structure, trapping, and diffusion behaviors of helium (He) at vacancy in a Fe single crystal using first-principles simulations were investigated. And the quantitative microscopic studies related to the atomic-level thermo-kinetic trapping processes were provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
A novel approach to quantifying the kinetics of point defect absorption at dislocations
TL;DR: In this article, the authors study the effect of dislocation induced plasticity and point defect diffusion on microstructure evolution under creep loading and/or irradiation, and show that local rates of defect mediated microstructural changes such as cavity growth can vary strongly as a consequence of the arrangement of the dislocation network and the corresponding strain state.

Void Swelling in Metals and Alloys Under Irradiation: An Assessment of the Theory
TL;DR: In this paper, the theory of swelling is reviewed in terms of basic concepts and simulation and impurity effects, and the basic theory employs the formalism of chemical reaction rates, e.g., voids, dislocations, etc.

Experimental effects of helium on cavity formation during irradiation—a review
TL;DR: In this paper, a review of cavity formation and swelling in non-fissile materials during neutron irradiation and charged particle bombardments is presented, which is explainable in terms of cavity nucleation on submicroscopic critical size gas bubbles, and on the influence of the neutral sink strength of such bubbles.

An improved equation of state for inert gases at high pressures
I.R. Brearley,D.A. MacInnes +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a hard sphere equation of state is developed in order to describe inert gas behaviour at high temperatures and/or pressures, and the use of the hard sphere EOS in modelling fission gas behaviour during a thermal transient is shown to be a more robust estimator of the fissure gas pressure in bubbles than the reduced van der Waals EOS.

Fission-fusion correlations for swelling and microstructure in stainless steels: Effect of the helium to displacement per atom ratio
TL;DR: In this article, the effects of the helium to displacement per atom ratio on microstructural evolution, with emphasis on austenitic stainless steels, were analyzed to determine mechanistic trends and a model calibrated to the fission reactor data was used to extrapolate to fusion conditions.
