Applications of the boltzmann equation within the context of upper atmosphere vehicle aerodynamics
TLDR
In this paper, half-space problems for the Boltzmann equation are used in order to derive boundary conditions for gas flows past an obstacle at the level of fluid mechanics, and they also appear to describe transitions between flows with strongly contrasted Knudsen numbers.About:

A hybrid particle-continuum method applied to shock waves
TL;DR: A hybrid numerical scheme designed for hypersonic non-equilibrium flows is presented which solves the Navier-Stokes equations in regions of near-equ equilibrium and uses the direct simulation Monte Carlo method where the flow is in non-Equilibrium.

A Domain Decomposition Analysis for a Two-Scale Linear Transport Problem
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a domain decomposition theory on an interface problem for the linear transport equation between a diusive and a non-diusive region, where the diusive region is coupled at the interface at the next order of approximation.

Principles of the Kinetic Theory of Gases
TL;DR: In this article, the subject of the kinetic theory of gases is considered to be coextensive with the theory of the Boltzmann equation, and only the original equation of Maxwell and of Boltzman for classical point molecules and short range forces are considered.
