Bacillus thuringiensis δ-endotoxin: Evidence that toxin acts at the surface of susceptible cells
TLDR
Enzymically activated δ-endotoxin of Bacillus thuringiensis covalently bound to Sephadex beads, has the same effect on insect cells in tissue culture as free toxin, and probably acts at the cell surface.Abstract:
Enzymically activated δ-endotoxin ofBacillus thuringiensis covalently bound to Sephadex beads, has the same effect on insect cells in tissue culture as free toxin. The effect is prevented by antitoxin antibody and heat denaturation and is not due to a nonspecific protein effect, the beads, or toxin released from the beads. The toxin, therefore, probably acts at the cell surface.read more

Methods and compositions for the production of stably transformed fertile monocot plants and cells thereof
Thomas R. Adams,Sheryl A. Chambers,Richard J. Daines,William J. Gordon-Kamm,Albert P. Kausch,Peggy G. Lemaux,Catherine J. Mackey,Mary L. Mangano,James V. O'brien,Thomas B. Rice,T. Michael Spencer,William G. Start,Nancy Willetts +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, a reproducible system for the production of stable, genetically transformed maize cells, and to methods of selecting cells that have been transformed, is described. But the system is not applicable to the field of agriculture.

Fertile transgenic corn plants
TL;DR: Fertile transgenic Zea mays (corn) plants which stably express recombinant DNA which is heritable are provided wherein said DNA preferably comprises a recombinant gene which encodes a seed storage protein, so that the amino acid profile of the corn is improved as discussed by the authors.

Bacillus thuringiensis var israelensis crystal delta-endotoxin: effects on insect and mammalian cells in vitro and in vivo
Wendy E. Thomas,David J. Ellar +1 more
TL;DR: With the exception of the Lepidopteran cell line, Choristoneura fumiferana 63 CF1, this soluble crystal delta-endotoxin protein showed no in vitro or in vivo toxicity, and no haemolytic activity.

Mechanism of action of Bacillus thuringiensis var israelensis insecticidal δ‐endotoxin

TL;DR: The results suggest an insecticidal mechanism in which interaction of toxin with specific plasma membrane lipids causes a detergent‐like rearrangement of the lipids, leading to disruption of membrane integrity and eventual cytolysis.

Photoreceptor mutant of Drosophia: is protein involved in intermediate steps of phototransduction?
TL;DR: In norpA mutants of Drosophila melanogaster the phototransduction process is either partially or completely blocked, and by using a temperature-sensitive allele, it is found that that NorpA mutation has little or no effect on either the rhodopsin-metarhodopsins transition or the machinery of quantum bump production.
