Bilateral paracentral acute middle maculopathy in a SARS-CoV-2-positive patient.

TLDR
In this article, a 28-year-old man was admitted to hospital for surgical repair of a distal femur fracture sustained during a road traffic accident, and his respiratory status declined, and he was transferred to intensive care unit (ICU) for ventilatory support due to confirmed SARS-CoV2 infection.
Abstract
A 28-year-old man was admitted to hospital for surgical repair of a distal femur fracture sustained during a road traffic accident. Recovery was complicated by a pulmonary embolism. Two days later, his respiratory status declined, and he was transferred to intensive care unit (ICU) for ventilatory support due to confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. He reported bilateral reduced vision after being discharged from ICU. Visual acuities were 6/18 right and 6/12 left. Dilated funduscopy revealed bilateral cotton wool spots and small, sparse mid-peripheral intraretinal haemorrhages (figure 1). Discrete areas of retinal pallor involving the fovea were consistent with paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM), confirmed on optical coherence tomography (OCT) (figure 2). Figure 1 Fundus autofluorescence of the right eye (A) and left eye (B) showing bilateral cotton wool spots …

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors discuss the potential causes of early visual loss when presented with a patient in the immediate postoperative period, including optical, anterior segment, lens-related and posterior segment causes, with the use of an illustrative clinical case of acute middle maculopathy.

The spectrum of COVID-19-associated chorioretinal vasculopathy

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors report and characterize with multimodal retinal imaging 5 cases of acute vision loss secondary to presumed chorioretinal vasculopathy temporally associated with COVID-19 infection with varying severity, visual morbidity, and treatment response.

Sequential Bilateral Paracentral Acute Middle Maculopathy in a Middle-Aged Woman

TL;DR: In this article , a case of sequential paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM) in a middle-aged woman with no cardiovascular risk factors was evaluated, and the right eye showed a superior parafoveal crescent of translucent retina without associated edema or hemorrhage.

Acute Macular Neuroretinopathy and Paracentral Acute Middle Maculopathy during SARS-CoV-2 Infection and Vaccination

TL;DR: In this article , the authors reviewed the demographic and clinical profile of patients developing acute macular neuroretinopathy (AMN) or paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM) after receiving coronavirus disease-2019 vaccination or infection.

Paracentral acute middle maculopathy: a new variant of acute macular neuroretinopathy associated with retinal capillary ischemia.

TL;DR: Paracentral acute middle maculopathy may represent a novel variant of AMN that affects the middle layers of the macula above the OPL as diagnosed with SD-OCT imaging and it is proposed that each of these lesions may be explained by occlusion of either the superficial capillary plexus or deep capillaryplexus located in the innermost and outermost portion of the INL.

Paracentral acute middle maculopathy and acute macular neuroretinopathy following SARS-CoV-2 infection.

TL;DR: COVID-19 has been reported in association with acute limb ischaemia, stroke and the so called “paediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome temporally associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection” and PAMM and AMN have similar underlying pathophysiology.

TL;DR: A 53-year-old man presented with acute loss of vision, negative scotoma and dyschromatopsia in his left eye and SARSCov-2 was confirmed by chest computed tomography-scan and RT-PCR in this patient.
