In this article, the authors use mirror symmetry to improve their understanding of the correspondence between 2D (0, 2) triality and 4-manifolds and provide a systematic approach for constructing brane brick models starting from geometry.Abstract:
Brane brick models are Type IIA brane configurations that encode the 2d $$ \mathcal{N}=\left(0,2\right) $$
gauge theories on the worldvolume of D1-branes probing toric Calabi-Yau 4-folds. We use mirror symmetry to improve our understanding of this correspondence and to provide a systematic approach for constructing brane brick models starting from geometry. The mirror configuration consists of D5-branes wrapping 4-spheres and the gauge theory is determined by how they intersect. We also explain how 2d (0, 2) triality is realized in terms of geometric transitions in the mirror geometry. Mirror symmetry leads to a geometric unification of dualities in different dimensions, where the order of duality is n − 1 for a Calabi-Yau n-fold. This makes us conjecture the existence of a quadrality symmetry in 0d. Finally, we comment on how the M-theory lift of brane brick models connects to the classification of 2d (0, 2) theories in terms of 4-manifolds.read more

Evolving neural networks with genetic algorithms to study the String Landscape
TL;DR: Three areas in which neural networks can be applied are studied: to classify models according to a fixed set of (physically) appealing features, to find a concrete realization for a computation for which the precise algorithm is known in principle but very tedious to actually implement, and to predict or approximate the outcome of some involved mathematical computation which performs too inefficient to apply it.

Machine-learning the string landscape
TL;DR: It is found that even a relatively simple neural network can learn many significant quantities to astounding accuracy in a matter of minutes and can also predict hithertofore unencountered results, whereby rendering the paradigm a valuable tool in physics as well as pure mathematics.

Monopole Condensation, And Confinement In N=2 Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Theory
Nathan Seiberg,Edward Witten +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the vacuum structure and dyon spectrum of N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theory in four dimensions, with gauge group SU(2), were studied. And the theory turns out to have remarkably rich and physical properties which can nonetheless be described precisely; exact formulas can be obtained, for instance, for electron and Dyon masses and the metric on the moduli space of vacua.

Nathan Seiberg,Nathan Seiberg +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate electric-magnetic duality in N = 1 supersymmetric non-Abelian gauge theories in four dimensions by presenting two different gauge theories (different gauge groups and quark representations) leading to the same non-trivial long distance physics.

Mirror symmetry is T duality
TL;DR: In this paper, it was argued that every Calabi-Yau manifold X with a mirror Y admits a family of supersymmetric toroidal 3-cycles and that the moduli space of such cycles together with their flat connections is precisely the space Y.
