Electric - magnetic duality, monopole condensation, and confinement in N=2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory

TLDR
In this article, the authors studied the vacuum structure and spectrum of N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theory in four dimensions, with gauge group SU(2), and obtained exact formulas for electron and dyon masses and the metric on the moduli space of vacua.

Large N Field Theories, String Theory and Gravity

TL;DR: In this paper, the holographic correspondence between field theories and string/M theory is discussed, focusing on the relation between compactifications of string theory on anti-de Sitter spaces and conformal field theories.

String theory dynamics in various dimensions

TL;DR: The strong coupling dynamics of string theories in dimension d ⩾ 4 are studied in this paper, where it is argued that eleven-dimensional supergravity arises as a low energy limit of the ten-dimensional Type IIA superstring.
Journal ArticleDOI

Noncommutative field theory

TL;DR: The generalization of field theory to space-time with noncommuting coordinates has been studied intensively in the last few years and many qualitatively new phenomena have been discovered, on both the classical and quantum level as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electric-magnetic duality in supersymmetric non-Abelian gauge theories

TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate electric-magnetic duality in N = 1 supersymmetric non-Abelian gauge theories in four dimensions by presenting two different gauge theories (different gauge groups and quark representations) leading to the same non-trivial long distance physics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Localization of Gauge Theory on a Four-Sphere and Supersymmetric Wilson Loops

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proved conjecture due to Erickson-Semenoff-Zarembo and Drukker-Gross which relates supersymmetric circular Wilson loop operators with a Gaussian matrix model.

Supersymmetry and Supergravity

TL;DR: The second edition of this book appeared in 1983 and was based on a series of lectures given at Princeton in 1983 by Julius Wess as discussed by the authors, where the authors presented a general supersymmetric gauge invariant theory of chiral fields interacting with supergravity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Topological quantum field theory

TL;DR: A twisted version of four dimensional supersymmetric gauge theory is formulated in this paper, which refines a nonrelativistic treatment by Atiyah and appears to underlie many recent developments in topology of low dimensional manifolds; the Donaldson polynomial invariants of four manifolds and the Floer groups of three manifolds appear naturally.

Constraints on Supersymmetry Breaking

TL;DR: In this paper, some nonperturbative constraints on supersymmetry breaking are derived and it is demonstrated that dynamical supersymmetric breaking does not occur in certain interesting classes of theories.

Exact Classical Solution for the 't Hooft Monopole and the Julia-Zee Dyon

TL;DR: In this article, an exact solution to the nonlinear field equations which describe a classical excitation possessing magnetic and electric charge was presented, which has finite energy and exhibits explicitly those properties which have previously been found by numerical analysis.
