Brillouin scattering from H 2 O: Liquid, ice VI, and ice VII
Alain Polian,M. Grimsditch +1 more
TLDR
In this article, the authors measured the Brillouin scattering from the liquid under hydrostatic pressure up to 30 GPa, and derived Elastic moduli derived from the frequency shifts with bulk modulus values obtained from compressibility data.Abstract:
Brillouin scattering from ${\mathrm{H}}_{2}$O under hydrostatic pressures up to 30 GPa is reported. Sound velocities in the liquid region agree with previous ultrasonic measurements and discontinuities are observed at the liquid---ice VI and ice VI---ice VII phase transitions. Elastic moduli derived from the frequency shifts are compared with bulk modulus values obtained from compressibility data.read more

Changes in the structure of water deduced from the pressure dependence of the Raman OH frequency
TL;DR: The Raman spectra of water under high temperature and pressure conditions are reported and show a discontinuity in the pressure dependence of the OH stretching frequency, which suggests a possible structural change under these conditions.

Water and solutions at negative pressure: Raman spectroscopic study to -80 megapascals.
TL;DR: In this article, aqueous fluids trapped in interstices in quartz and other crystals provide novel systems for the deliberate study of liquids under tension, where attractive, rather than repulsive, forces should dominate their behavior.

Effect of high pressure on the Raman spectra of ice VIII and evidence for ice X
K. R. Hirsch,W. B. Holzapfel +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Raman spectra of H2O and D2O ice VIII were measured up to 50 GPa at 100 K. The changes in line positions and intensities of ice VIII and the appearance of a new band above 40 GPa point to the formation of symmetric hydrogen bonds in ice X.

Pressure dependence of the elastic constants of ice Ih to 2.8 kbar by Brillouin spectroscopy
TL;DR: The adiabatic elastic constants of single crystals of ice from the Mendenhall Glacier, and the longitudinal and transverse speeds of sound of polycrystalline ice aggregates, have been measured in the range 0-2.8 kbar at −35.5°C by Brillouin spectroscopy as mentioned in this paper.

Acoustic velocities and densities of polycrystalline ice Ih, II, III, V, and VI by Brillouin spectroscopy
TL;DR: In this paper, the longitudinal and transverse speeds of sound of ice Ih, II, III, V, and VI have been measured by Brillouin spectroscopy in the range 0-10 kbar at −35.5°C.
