Capillary forces between particles at a liquid interface: General theoretical approach and interactions between capillary multipoles

TLDR
A general integral expression for the capillary force was derived and applied to obtain convenient asymptotic formulas for the force and energy of interaction between capillary multipoles of arbitrary orders, which have a wider range of validity in comparison with the previously published ones.

Suppression of the coffee-ring effect by shape-dependent capillary interactions

TL;DR: It is shown experimentally that the shape of the suspended particles is important and can be used to eliminate the coffee-ring effect: ellipsoidal particles are deposited uniformly during evaporation.

Curvature-driven capillary migration and assembly of rod-like particles

TL;DR: Capillarity can be used to direct anisotropic colloidal particles to precise locations and to orient them by using interface curvature as an applied field, and this feature is exploited to induce migration and assembly at preferred locations, and to create complex structures.

Capillary interactions between anisotropic particles

TL;DR: In this article, the authors review recent advances in the field of anisotropic particles at fluid interfaces, by focusing on particles in the micron and submicron range, and discuss capillary adsorption, orientation, migration, and self-assembly, on planar and curved interfaces, and the rheology of particle-laden interfaces.

Hard and soft colloids at fluid interfaces: Adsorption, interactions, assembly & rheology

TL;DR: Although it is well established that the transport of both hard particles and microgels to the interface is driven by diffusion, the analysis of the adsorption kinetics needs reconsideration and a proper equation of state relating the surface pressure to the Adsorbed mass should be used.
Journal ArticleDOI

Orientation and self-assembly of cylindrical particles by anisotropic capillary interactions.

TL;DR: To model the cylinder interactions for separations greater than a few radii, an anisotropic potential is derived based on elliptical quadrupoles and predicts an attractive force and a torque, both of which depend strongly on aspect ratio.

Integrals and Series

TL;DR: The pages of this expensive but invaluable reference work are dense with formulae of stupefying complexity as discussed by the authors, where definite/indefinite integral properties of a great variety of special functions are discussed.
